So - liner protrusion. The liners had to be wound out with a puller so I was presuming they would have to be wound back in but now they now just slide in. So with a ruler as a straight edge (hhmm I know...) I get a 0.05mm feeler gauge constantly between all of them without the o-ring seal between the liner and the block.

Questions -
Do I measure with or without the o-ring seal in place?
What is the protrustion I am looking for (metric)

I was advised 3 thou (of and inch) which is 3*(25.4/1000) = 0.0762mm, 7.62 hundredths of a mm. Go for 0.075mm.O ring out, keep liners in the order and alignment must be kept consistent.

7.62mm is what I would like to us eon maggot (and I know how to use it too)

Can hit him at 500 m standing easily if that is is of any info?

Sorry Mark this on the engine, as discussed get the shop to knock 1 thou off it, a fly's dick worth or better yet get it professionally measured first with an accurate dial guage, that is better than a doing it by hand any day and will give confidence.

Lined up the old control arm on top of the new control arm so I would get somewhere close before the installation of sub frame. It won't be spot on but it will be in the all park. Some cleaning and freshen up of a few bits and we're looking much better than before.

Block is going off to the engineer again tommorow to be shaved a poofteenth.

Sprayed in situ, brave! Will drop in to look one day soon to gain inspiration!

Make sure liners go off with block for 3 thou protrusion!

Engine block back from engineering. No liner wobbles, three thou protrusion.

Hhmm chicken....

Slathering as I look at this. How do you manage to get it all done, having places close by helps I suspect!

Wonderful stuff, will do exactly the same soon enough, can I sponsor you to do it again? :)

Hi peeps, piston time. Rings are all good. Went for Mahle set 039 82 V0. I remember from long ago the word "Dist" with the arrow stamped on top of the piston means front - arrow pointing toward front of engine. Can someone confirm this for me before I tie them down please?

More pics....

Dist stands for distribution and I am fairly sure it means the flywheel end. One of the more knowledgeable ones will fix this for you! I cannot remember but had same q when I built mine.

Yeah I'm sure others have thought it ment distributor and were caught out....

Distributor and flywheel are at the same end. It means the FRONT of the engine, the timing belt end.
