Very impressive. That would have to be one of the least damaged and most rust free 404's floating around.

I've never seen a vehicle with such a "perfectly rusted" front fabricated cross member.

The bottom looks like it's been peeled off.

Light sandblast and paint underneath and she's good to go!

Could you please let me know the VIN of the 64 404 so I can add It to the registry? Thanks

Finally! I ordered this from Baker BM on the 21/4! Four months to actually get it here, disappointing as BMs products are great but I think this will be the last time I bother dealing with them. And I'm sure I could have gotten son thing locally in a fraction of the time and possibly cheaper anyways....hindsight huh...
Now I can start the final bits of assembly, plumbing and mocking up an air box, still waiting on the bigger torsion bars but all the majors are in place!

Few developments over the weekend. Got my 205 radiator in, leaves a perfect pocket for the itbs.
Also picked up this little 206....

The 206 was written off when someone backed into it in a carpark, thus it needed a headlight and bumper, I found one just around the corner from work very cheaply, so she's wearing blue for now.

It's beautiful to drive, so will keep it together for now and slowly get it to the road, though won't be investing anything in it till the 05's are done.

There is a drone/hum that builds from about 55kph, only speed related not revs, I initially assumed wheel issue and swapped over the set but no better. nothing particularly notable in the feel but bit disconcerting, leaning towards a wheel bearing possibly, I guess it could also be the diff?

Mocking up an air box for the red 205 now that the rads in, will fab it out of alu. Had to order some new silicon hoses so should have it plumbed soon.
New brake lines are on the way too.

404 went back up on the hoist, doing some bushes, did the rack boot, thought I had parts for the rack end joint so pulled it all apart, only to find I had the wrong size, so cleaned and repacked it all, there where some shims that I removed also to close up the socket, feels much better.
Where there different ARB sizes depending on model? The bushes I have seem a smidge oversized...
Draining the mollasis from the diff also...
Went to Wurth and picked up some under body sealer, as Well as some cavity wax, so will blitz it while its up.

Great progress and, by the way, just love your workshop.

Cheers Peter, enjoying doing a little bit here and there.

It was an old engineering factory when we bought this place, unfortunately it sits next to our long dirt driveway and the roof is all but a sieve, re roofing was supposed to be the next project about 10 projects ago [emoji15]
