Turbo 306 in Adelaide

yeah not bad huh? i am saving up for a custom manifold and quad throttles. should set me back 1500 but it will be worth it. i cant believe that there is almost no torque steer! must be the equal length drive shafts, but it is one wild experience when u put the power down. have u seen the pis?

should you bother with quads?
to get serious power out of GTi-R's the junk the standard quads and go for a single throttle body.

then again quads look and sound awesome

by the way, i have performance chips for all model 306s and extractors for the 8v 1.8 engine (they are custom ones fom exhaust technology) all for sale
Firstly congrats on the front cover of hot 4's n fast 4, thats quite impressive it may annoy a few pug purists but im all for it. wink

O yeah how much for the extractors and performance chips, and how much of difference do they make?

Hey Turbo.....sweet setup mate. Im just doing a GTi6 conversion ATM it should be done by the end of this week and i was contenplating turboing it.

About the weak GTi6 internals its not necessarily true....if u wanted to run 7+psi id do internals neways taking care of that problem. And ive heard the 6 speed is strong anyway...it wat they used in the 306 Maxi :)

Good luck with the cover of Hot4's u dont know how long ive waited for a Euro car on the front....i always dreamed of having a Tyrbo 306 on the cover looks like u beat me too it. :) Hope the conversion goes all smoothly how long till its done?

Oh when was your 12.1 done? Wat power were you putting out when you did that? How was your 60' time?

As Andreas said dont waste your cash on a Quad throttles in a boosted apllication they are pointless. Just get a bigger Single throttle body....like a GTi6 one or sumthing. I compared my 1.8 SOHC Throttle body to the GTi6 one and there is a massive difference :)

Get the pics up quick mate im dying here

they do make a bit of difference, it is noticeable, but you lose all bottom end, but the top end 5000-6000 revs are much more powerful. 300 for the extractors and 300 for the chip. both of them are custom and the extractors cost me 790 bucks! the chip was 620, but i just want to get rid of them coz i got no use for them anymore. ps what is the power of that 406, im going for most powerful pug in oz and i need to know what else there is out there, cheers

i have a 65mm throttle on there now from a v8, not the stock one, that went straight in the bin!
i did the run a week ago and i had 237 kw. running four 60mm throttles just before they meet the head will let alot more air in than the single 65mm one i have now, look pretty trick too

it's a 405 and dont worry, it's a NA road car, only 105kw at the wheels.
there are a few 200kw+ pugs around but most of those are track cars.
there's a 505 V6 twin turbo that's got more power than you, does that count?

But if you just get a custom Plenum made up you will not need those quad throttle bodies.
It doesn't look like youve got a plenum.....look at the powerful SR20DETS and RB26DETT....they al have a bigger sized Inlet Plenum usually around 6-9 litres.

Quads look cool but are really only good for NA appllications...like Andreas said in the GTiR SR20 they are used but this was for a stock style apllication and homogolation purposes.

and only a week ago we were telling purrr-geot the 1.8 8v was and would always be gutless
I always knew my lil 8v wasnt meant to be so innocent evil .

 Geez i am confused i swear i took everyones advice and was considering using that money for either one of those peugeot scooters or trip to europe next year to see one WRC race, what do i do?

But reading turbopeugeot306 description im reconsidering but on the other hand do i have 18g's to spend.

I reckon i should get a thread started or a vote goin on what i should do!!!

p.s Hey turbopeugeot306 fancy coming down to Melbourne on the 6th of july, not only do you get the opportunity to leave Adelaide for the day but you can also cruise with some melbourne frogs and show us ya car what your car can do!! its a win-win situation cheers!

Ahaha its a win win situation leaving Adeliade. J/k Man :)

Purrrr-geot dude if u are going Forced Induction with internal work stay with the 8V if not scrap it. Even with a turbo running say 6 psi on stock internals youll struggle to make as much power as a GTi6 or a Type R Integra. As for NA mods....extractors and chip will give you 10-15kw MAX. Also im sick of my crappy 8V and its ghey 6000rpm rev limit...bring on my new 7000rpm redline :) I Cant wait

Yeh true wut you are saying there WRC, but if i can get those extractors+chip for $600 it's all good dance . At least that way i'll be able to go a bit quicker than the pug scooter im considering getting!! roll_lau roll_lau

True man....$700 for those parts is pretty damn cheap. But your pug will still loose to most VTEC hondas :(

I hate my 77kw 1.8 motor soo much...i raced a new corolla the other week. Kept up in 1st gear cause the Pug has torque but after that it was all over :(

I think ill have a rematch this time with the new motor.....give him a bit of a scare :)

the way i did it is very expensive, but i can have the manifolds and piping copied off mine for alot cheaper than 18. probably about 10 grand to get over 200kw. sound good? and with those "strong" 6 speed gti boxes, my cousin in sydney used to have one, and blew his 3rd gear syncro 4 times! and it isnt an isolated incident, almost every1 with a gti has warned me about how weak they are. thats why i chose a 5 speed

who is doing the engine swap for u to the gti? what is involved, i asked a couple of places to do it and they wanted over 10 grand to do it! u also need to change over the steering rack. did u know that? otherwise the gearbox doesnt fix. so if u dont have a whole front cut and a mechanic friend willing to do the job heaps cheap, wouldnt it be worth just using the 5speed?

ok ok ok, guys, i REALLY need to know about 306 c.v.'s
can i get stronger ones? do i order them or do they have to be made custom like everything *******else on the car? im pushing the car hard and i dont think that they will hold up... HELP!

turbopeugeot306:
i cant believe that there is almost no torque steer!
Gees your make'n me aim for more power....hey have you ever taken it circuit racing at all? how does it behave around corners with all that power goin to the fronts?

Ps. Lancers do suck :D

Man i know for $15K its a very good turbo conversion but what i wanted was a low pressure turbo setup. A BB T28 running bout 6psi on stock internals. Autronic SMC, Bigger injectors, Mitsu Evo Front Mount Cooler. This will net at least 180kw at the motor which is heaps. Alot of my friends have turbo Lancers and Honda VTECS. The Type R motors can take 9psi quite safely on stock internals and make very good HP figures. My friend turbocharged his Prelude H22A...he made 215kw@the wheels on 12psi. Stock internally motor :)

Anyways the GTi conversion is being done at my dads workshop. Im doing as much as i can and the major stuff is handled by the mechanic there. We ripped my old motor out on friday and put the GTi one in. All that really needs to be done now is the electricals. But bassically my N3 306 XR has EVERYTHING GTi6 spec. Rear end, brakes suspension, gbox radiator interior ect. It hasn't really cost me much at all cause i bought a write off GTi6 for a very low price.

Im getting pics developed tommorow so ill have them online by tommorow nite.

Neways man good luck with your pug and take sum more pics quick i wanna see your car properly :)

Ummm try Gti6 ones. I can show u a pic i took of my stock N3 driveshafts vs the GTi6 ones. All i can say is they absolutely dwarf the 8V ones. As do the brakes :)

Hopefully the pic will be up tommorow :)
