Peugeot 504 from Serbia

I just checked out their website. There are many reproduction parts available... I wonder how the quality is!

Incredibly, on the donor are excellent parts that are bad on my car :D

I'm waiting for the repairer to weld... during that time I'm taking parts from donors... Greatest dilemma it's with the door, My old door, they have newer handled, a donor have old type... I'll keep it older, But I have to change locks on the pillars .... Is it better and simpler variants?

The push-button door handles work nicely and are more reliable. I'm not sure that the latches are interchangeable though? You'll need to check that the old latches will bolt onto your car.

Are you restoring other cars there too, Dishaka ? Or are you using someone else's workshop ?

Your security guard looks very friendly......

My friend works and likes vw beetle, he currently has one fantastic, and he has opel kadett c gte, and prepares him ... he has plenty of experience and golden hands ... only money is missing ... his garage and security :D Otherwise the dog is beautiful, both in character and appearance....

During your rust repairs, are you doing anything to the drain holes at the bottom of the front and back windscreens ?

Because they have been a problem here in Australia.

It has been a very common problem.

Rust forms underneath and inside the panel. And you cannot just put windscreen sealant in there. That will hold in water and cause rust even more.
All older 504s here used to eventually develop rust holes  at the bottom corners of the front windscreen and this weakens the pillars. Not good.

From my own experience, you can do 2 things :

1) Weld in some metal pipes to drain the water further away from where it usually goes. I used pieces of transmission pipe I found at the wreckers....they are steel and flared at one end. They were big because they came from a big car.

2) Renault 12s used to have no drain holes, but they did have a slot which the water could flow down, and then straight out the front......not inside. You could see it underneath the front windscreen rubber, but it was not very noticeable. Maybe you could create slots ?
I always thought this was a beter solution to the problem.

Either way, you really should squirt in some fish oil (or something similar) into the panel the water currently drains into.....there is always rust inside.

The back windscreen is the same, but not so bad.

Good luck taking out the front windscreen without breaking it........it is very easy to break.
I hope your friend has had experiencve doing this.

The rear windscreen is no problem as it is "safety glass". You get in the back seat, take off your shoes and push out with your feet, whilst using a screwdriver on the rubber.

Seriously....I've done it many times. And my local Peugeot mechanic taught me this. The rear screen is DIFFICULT to break !

Unless you drop it on concrete ...:D

Perhaps it is not a laminated front windscreen ?

These things vary from country to country....

.......Early 504s here in Australia (up until ....and including....1972) had safety glass windscreens. They are very tough, but shatter into small pieces if hit by a rock.

......Later models had laminated windscreens, which are 2 thin pieces of glass with sticky stuff between them. They crack fairly easily, but you can continue driving with a big crack in the glass, then replace it later.

a little sagging, a little welding, changing the tile of the locks...I'm waiting for the next weekend :( ... starts to look like a car :)

That's major work you're doing there ! It's progressing along quite nicely, Dishaka.

I notice that you have left on the top of the dash. You're not worried that it may get damaged ?
Are you aware of how easy they are to remove ? Just pull UP...the dash is held on by clips.

Sorry if you know this already....it just seems like it might get damaged.

I have not written for a long time, because nothing was done :( I hope for the works, maybe next week... To the master, the sister was seriously ill, and that's why work is delayed....
