That Garage is waaay too tidy. Shame it's an up to 2 litre class, as long as they're a sensible bunch of guys (well as sensible as racers get) it should be fun. Good Luck.
Don't worry, he's only been there a year or two. It will mellow with time. That Garage is waaay too tidy. Shame it's an up to 2 litre class, as long as they're a sensible bunch of guys (well as sensible as racers get) it should be fun. Good Luck.
Yes, I would say so, however, I have just copied the old one that I made in 2008. It is now so thin that holes are falling in all over and I can't even patch it anymore. The photo shows the old one before it was fitted to the car. Still nice and in white which didn't last long!So the extractors are working as planned?
Yes, you can see that BMW got hauled in very quickly. I didn't outbrake him, I didn't brake at all cos I didn't have brakes.Just watched that new vid Frans. Never before have I seen a better argument for leaving a handbrake in a race car.
You pulled it up like a champion. Glad its ok.
The joys of bleeding eh? I eventually bought one of the suction type bleeders with a tube that you fit to the bleed nipples. Hopeless, nothing but air. Then I thought about it. I used some heavy silicone grease on the nipple threads and the air problem disappeared.Yes, you can see that BMW got hauled in very quickly. What happened I do not know. I think that one of the master cylinders, which one, front or rear, I don't know, got stuck due to swelling of the seal, and when I applied brakes at the end of the straight the piston was still depressed and couldn't replenish any fluid. Remember I haven't touched the master cylinders since they were installed some 9 years ago. The scary thing is that in racing the brakes are applied at the very last moment, always. I have however completed two races afterward that day and adapted the habit of "feeling" the pedal as seen in Supercars.
I've spent a day or two removing, overhauling, and refitting the master cylinders. A pig of a job. I have mentioned before that there isn't much space for a single master cylinder on a normal R8/R10, never mind two, and a balance bar is fitted to the race car! Now my biggest nightmare lies ahead, bleeding the brakes. I have always had issues doing that, why, I don't know. It should be a simple thing... famous last words.
Racing is on at our Hampton Downs Track on the 7th of April, so wish me luck. Hopefully, the brakes will be bled by that time.
