Howdy all,

At the suggestion of BIGRR, a place to post pictures and details of your 504s!

Sort of a register - one post per 504 please, with a few details about it.

Me first:

20150529_160012.jpg

1979 504 GL converted to 2.2 litre EFI Douvrin engine, 5 speed, power steering, LSD, 505 GTI suspension, etc. Previously registered as THE504, now on club plates; originally a Tasmanian car I believe. Has travelled around 230,000 km as of today.

20150309_164913.jpg

1974 TI, this one was off the road for a few years before I bought it. Now on club plates, unrestored but well sorted mechanically. I plan to restore it properly eventually, it will be kept bone standard except for a 5 speed gearbox and safety/reliability upgrades.

Total distance travelled unknown. Based on various bits and pieces found inside the car, the previous owner had long grey hair, played a guitar and used ice!

1973 Ti, one owner, original paint, not driven enough, 385,000km on clock. Still a great car to drive, though NO a/c.

US version (California) '74 504GL (XN1)/Automatique (ZF3 HP12). No power anything, stock except for upgraded electronic ignition, Weber carb, 15 inch 505 rims and euro headlights. 140,000 miles, 3rd owner. Interior just like I want it, exterior next on the to-do list.

Hi, I'm Mateo from Uruguay! That's my Pug 504. It's a SE2000 from 1979. It has xn1 engine 1970cc with twins Dellorto DHLA 40, 289 camshaft, ported cilynder head, 505 electronic ignition with racing coil and other stuff. It performs really well. Nowadays I'm rebuilding the engine. I've got a 4,39 limited slip diff, from a 504 pick up. I will install it when I get the 5 speed gear box. It have original 15 inch rims, modified to 15x7,5 inch front and 15x8,5 inch rear (185/70 and 195/55 tires). In the future I will work on the front suspension to achieve negative camber, put softer springs, and some other little things.
Greetings and sorry for my english!

Thank you BIGRR for helping me with photos!!!!!

Here's mine. 1972 Auto Sedan in Sage Grey (light green) with dark green and black upholstery.

Car originally sold new from Roy Mcphee in Sydney to a relative of Roy's. Car was traded in back to Roy McPhee's in 1980. My father was looking for a "more modern" car for my mother who was taking my sister and I to school everyday in a 1954 MG Magnette. My father was mates with Roy's brother Ken.

Anyway, my father purchased the 504 sight unseen and the 504 was put on a train from Sydney and ended up at Murwillumbah where it was then driven back to Brisbane. It was driven for 25 years until my father retired and then drove my mum around. The 504 was put into storage for a while, then I took it out of storage on 2010 and i've been driving it everyday.

The vehicle currently has 117,000 miles on the clock. This is genuine. The vehicle has had a lot of work done to it over the years - engine rebuild (new sleeve seals) in the mid eighties, serviced every 6 months regardless of mileage.

The car saved my mum's life in the late eighties after a truck went through a red light and wiped out the front of the car. My father had the car rebuilt but the second hand panels used required a lot of filler and today, the filler is lifting. The paint is not broken, but you can see slight lumps in the paint work on the guards in certain light. So a front end respray is next on the job list.

Over the past 5 years I have replaced: rear drive shaft seals, rear diff seals, various seals on automatic gearbox (without removing box) door seals, new stereo and speakers, new custom sheep skin seat covers front and back, installed central locking, new radiator, water pump, thermostat, fan switch, installed thermo fan in front of radiator, rebuilt starter motor (was rebuilt 20 years ago!) new brake pads all round and rebuilt both rear brake calipers. (fronts need doing as well), new master cylinder. Rebuilt Solex Carby. Suspension was rebuilt in 2008 including all bushes, ball joints, TRE's and King springs with Boge shocks so it sits nice with the bum up a little. I've added 505 Series 1 alloy wheels with 195/75 tyres. I even rebuilt the windscreen wiper motor. There are new carpet inside too. Rebuilt distributor, new plugs, leads etc.

This is car is so nice to drive. There is no other car that can ride over speed bumps like a 504.

This is an original Works Peugeot 504 Coupe V6 rally car. It started out as a 1979 Bandama rally car (Nicolas/De Alexandris) and was rallied in three continents in a single year: In 1980 it was driven at the Acropolis Rally by Makinen/Todt (10[SUP]th[/SUP]), Ambrosino drove it in the Bandama Rally (3[SUP]rd[/SUP]), and Lefebvre in Rally Argentina (5[SUP]th[/SUP]). It was sent to America in 1982 where it was modified by McLaren and dominated its class at the SCCA PRO Rally Championship until it retired in 1984, after more successful rallies than any other Works Coupe. I brought it back to Greece in 2006 with dreams of restoring it and entering it in the Acropolis rally once again. It is a group 4 competition GT car with a 275 bhp 3-liter V6, fully restored to Appendix K compliance in 2007. When we entered it in the 2009 Historic Acropolis it won both its class and category, performing flawlessly throughout the rally without a need for service. After a few close calls we decided to retire it from competition in 2011 as it is one of two cars of its kind surviving worldwide. It still goes out for spirited drives and was the zero car at the 2014 Historic Acropolis rally, but its competition days are over. Unless I change my mind

Originally the silver 1973 four cylinder 504 coupe shown in the first photo, imported from France to Greece with a blown head gasket via ebay.fr in 2008 . It was eventually converted to a replica (except for the livery, I dislike impostors) of the works V6 coupes using all works parts including a 285 bhp V6 engine. A great car, a lot of fun to drive, and in many ways a better car than the original works coupe it is a copy of, because of lower weight and some geometry and suspension modifications we made.

1971 Peugeot 504 Berline rally car,181 bhp rally engine with flowed and port-matched big valve head, 300 degree custom camshaft with matched high performance valve springs, forged pistons, o-ringed liners, lightened flywheel, and annealed copper gasket. Twin Weber 45 mm DCOE’s, big stainless 4-2-1 extractors, 65 mm exhaust. Front and rear ends from a works coupe V6, 4.625 limited slip differential. It is due for a re-skin, as after 10 years of hard rallying, cracks are beginning to develop.

I have added more action photos of the sedan to the original post to adhere to the "one post per 504" instruction. Please delete your post to avoid clutter in the thread; I will delete mine soon after that. Post some photos of your 504, I really love the color.

1976 504 LTI

Assumed 700,000+km; service logs to ~550,000km.

Originally Mystic Green (remnants in the engine bay), this car appears to have been touched up cheaply about 10 years ago. It's not a bodgy job, but it looks like it was fairly quick. Lots of wobbles left in panels, and the paint has drips in it. I think multiple panels are from a different vehicle, as the colour match of the blue isn't quite right. Rust is starting to bubble up in a few places, but hasn't grown since being garaged.

This car is mostly original, even including a lot of the hoses in the engine bay. The motor number matches the chassis. I've currently got 16 inch rims on it (modified 505 TRX rims), and the haven't found the ride to suffer that much. Grip has gone through the roof, though!

The LTI was an Australian only model sold late '76 into '77. It was introduced to sell off the top spec options that were priced too high for the general population. Standard was TI motor, auto transmission (BW35), front power windows, tinted windows, sunroof, and metallic paint (Mystic Green, Flamingo (?) Red, and a Silver). Air con was an option, but isn't present in mine. Less than 100 sold. (Please correct me if this is wrong!)

This car will be getting a full restoration to factory in time. I think this is such an excellent piece of automotive history, a real pinnacle of 70s technology presented in such a beautiful and reliable way. Next year though, I'll start my restoration adventures with a different chassis (early doors, and less rust, and far less originality!).

Some photos!

Out for a drive after some rain. Wheels and grille have been updated due to a small altercation involving a loss traction.

A fairly typical day in Perth; beautiful!

With friends at the French Car Festival in Perth.

Her old stable mate. The white one has been sent away to another enthusiast, and is providing parts for a speed boat and a ute as far as I know!

The first time I took it off tarmac was to park with the 4WDs at uni!

ThanosK, those are all absolutely excellent!

520,000km, engine and chassis numbers match. Engine was overhauled about 100,000km ago. Pretty much stock standard. I have only had the vehicle around 12 months and she is a joy to drive. Now on club plates. Original colour, although has had a respray. Not too many in this colour!IMG_2656.jpgIMG_2657.jpgIMG_2655.jpg

Hi Guys,
76 Coupe rally spec.
Motor is 3ltr with Weber IDA 3C, cams, porting, PAC valve springs, PPM rods and Pistons, 11:1 comp.
HP-Enough!
Gearbox C/R BA10/5 ex Bob Watson. 3.7 diff with Quaife centre. Thanks to Thanos for the suspension and Works flares.
Car is built light with lots of CF and Glass panels. Rust took the original parts!
Just finished the HRA State Bank rerun, first Pug.

Bill.

1975 504 GL

Purchased from the original owner about 4 years ago, after spending the first 35 years of its life in Launceston. Still has the original 'Donald Gorringe Pty Ltd' dealer sticker on the rear window. With the exception of a fairly poorly-done respray at some point (in the original Trak Yellow) the car is completely original; right down to the Peugeot branded AM radio. It has the twin-throat Solex carb with a manual choke and an oil bath filter.

Hasn't missed a beat in the time I've had it, and very easy to maintain. Without A/C it's more of a winter car than a summer car, and the heater is fantastic (as you all know). It's no longer my daily drive, and it took me a while to re-train myself to slow down for speed bumps :D.

It's hard to explain, but nothing else on the road drives quite like a 504, and I plan to keep mine for many years to come.

What I love most about my 504 is her humility. It's as if she has no understanding of her pedigree and is quite happy spending time with the common folk, as evidenced by this photograph.[emoji6]

The difference in the two cars is like comparing chalk to cheese....

My Aunty had a 1972 Holden Kingswood (which she had since new) and driving that compared to my 1972 504 can not be put into words....the 504 was so far advanced in every sense of the word.

001.jpgThis is the second 504 cab I have owned .The first was from 81 to 89 and white .This green one I bought sight unseen when it was advertised in UK in 2009 .It had a full restoration in 94 with many rusty panels replaced and much waxoil and rust proofing added .It is an original UK car converted to RHD when new .When I got it here it still had good paint but had a few dents around the body and there was some rust in the rear valance and under the back seat which I repaired then repainted the car in 2/pac and got a new white soft top .I have fitted power steering and a 5 speed box and just drive it occasionally on fine days .

We just finished building this 504 marathon rally car. We started with a 1976 504 Ti Euro luxury model: Sunroof, a/c and power steering (all three now gone, along with many other comforts like heat :)). We built it to be the ultimate 504 marathon car, as we were planning to contest the 2016 Peking to Paris motor challenge in it. Plans have changed and we will not participate, but the car will get its workouts in different venues. All the information in excruciating detail here: http://www.aussiefrogs.com/forum/peugeot-forum/119009-peugeot-504-marathon-rally-car-build.html

My 504

Here is one of my 504's - a reasonably original 1973 GL with original QLD plates. Purchased about 7 years ago from a fellow who used it as his daily driver when he travelled from Brisbane to Armidale every week!

I've had the front suspension repaired, and added the Cheviot alloy wheels and given it a polish. Other than that it's a fun car to own and drive, and will be getting a few more improvements as time permits.

Great to see the other 504's out there.

Here's a photo of my other 504 taken at a recent track day in Brisbane. This vehicle started life as a 1974 GL auto, the previous owner subsequently installed a rebuilt Ti motor, retained the auto and added the cheviot alloys plus some other minor mods. I've owned it about 2 years and enjoy driving it whenever I can. The difference between the two 504's is noticeable in performance and handling.
