peujohn's new 504 blog

All LTI/s came with electric tinted windows as standard. Some may have been converted to manual if problems occurred with them. Anything that started life as TI would not have the sunroof or tinted windows.

No they didn't, As I said previously I've had 2 of them, the second was undoubtedly original as I purchased it from the 2nd owner who was very close with the first owner and had known the car since new.

No weight saving and I've found electric windows to be more reliable,

I think this discussion might have come up fairly recently on AF. Every LTi I have seen has had electric windows, but there are clearly plenty of people who have had them without. The one I have at home has the wiring to the doors, but has been converted to manual for some reason. Possibly weight, as it has been modified for rallying. Not sure there's much weight to be saved there though!

What about this strange white 504 LTi/Ti auto?

Don't remember an auto Ti (Excepting the LTi).

The condition of the front seats appears as if it may have only covered 81,000km.

You must be tickled pink to own such a nice car.

Thanks! It isn't quite as good up close, but I'm certainly working on it.

Car's largely original, but there's a few 'questionable' bodywork repairs and a few bubbles of rust that I hope to get sorted by year's end. After that, full respray in 'Trak Yellow'.

I have sold my 504 GTI after 14 years of ownership. Sad to see it go, but time for a change! It has been a lot of fun. I still have a 504 TI in the shed which waits patiently for my attention, although it does not need a lot of work done.

Sorry to see that Aussiefrogs will be shut down soon. I've been floating around here off and on since 2003. Thanks to Gerry and every member for the great resource and gathering place that Aussiefrogs has been.

Understand it must be a sad thing. Is the car staying close by?
Yes it was purchased by a gent who lives about 20 minutes from me. He hasn't had Peugeots before, he's more of a Volvo guy. He also owns an Amazon 2 door. He's delighted with the 504. One comment he made was that he's impressed with how the car uses its space - with plenty of room inside, a big boot and a great driving position. It was great to hear that. I've always thought the 504 is very contemporary in terms of its practicality and functionality.

I always like to point out how well-designed and engineered they are. For instance, the engine, gearbox, torque tube (with prop shaft inside), and differential are all supported by ...two medium-sized engine mounts and two diff mounts which are the size of matchboxes !

Would you happen to know why ??
That is truly sad :(

Back in Mi16 ownership... after
almost 20 years. I had a white series 1 from 1999 to 2003. I've been hankering for another for a while now, just picked up this one, 1992 series 1.5, 198k. It has had a few owners over the last little while. Hopefully I will get it back on the road!

Meanwhile the 504 Ti hasn't moved for 2 or 3 years but I have been fiddling with it lately. I recently fitted a rebuilt gear shifter. I also have fitted new carpets, and trying to get the front seatbelts sorted. I realised recently that the retractable front belts have been retrofitted. I think I'll replace them with manually adjustable belts. If anyone has a 1974 504 I'd appreciate some pictures of the seatbelt floor location.

I have another issue with the a rear window. The glass has come out of the carrier and I can't get it back in. Any tips?

Also in the shed these days, a 1996 E36 BMW M3.

Hi John, i have fitted retractable seat belts front and rear to my 72 504. For the front's, there is a bolt on the side of the floor beneath the B pillar where the retractable mechanism is bolted to, plus the end of the belt if that makes sense.

This is what I used for the fronts:

Cheers

Thanks mate, my 504 had retractable front belts, but I don't think they were factory fitted. I didn't like the position of the spools either. They interfere with the front seat travel and get in the way of the rear passengers' feet.

I'd like to see what you have done though, can you post a picture?
