Heres a pic of that crappy crappy 8V motor....i dont want to have anything to do with it again hehe. I mean just look how ugly and crude it looks :(

Just look at those extractors they are a work of art...now i understand why they are worth so much

Heres a pic comparing XR brakes and driveshafts to GTi6 Specs. They dwarf the XR items in comparison :)

Still gotta install this GTi6 Dash stuff its a bit of a ballbreaker though cause N3 has different connectors

Thats all the photos i uploaded for now. I just wanna drive the car so badly. Oh also im going to take it to a wightbridge ASAP i wanna see how much lighter it will be than a N5 GTi6 :)

If you dont have a GTi6 to get parts from it will be very very expensive.....seeing as i got the whole car and just changed parts it worked out quite cheap. Also labour was cheap cause it was done at my dads work by me, him and the mechanic there.

at a guess:
3 pints of blood
2 buckets of sweat
1 cup of tears

Incredible job I must say. Was your XR N5 to begin with?
Remember to feed it RON95+ and some Mobil 1. Gbox fluid may need a a change not to mention the timing belt. Then a track session/hillclimb awaits.

I am so jealous of your lightweight GTi6.

owwww,

never mind about the N5 question. Im going blind, either that or I was too captivated by the pics.

Have you considered some additional bracing to stiffen up the chasis? Say Front rear strut braces? Or even better a full rollcage.

Im on the verge of commiting suicide as im in a strong state of jealousy cry cry . WRC i am impressed, any chance she'd be ready for the Melb car cruise on the 6th.

2 questions-
1)are those rims in good condition, if so how much would you sell them for?

2)in the pic "Side by side 8V vs GTi6" what are those beautiful classics in the background? eek!

Thanks Tekkie and Puurr-geot yeah we ran into a few hickups but it went mostly smoothly. Its just the difference between wiring looms on the N3 and N5 that have slowed down progress :(

Yep shell only be dieting on 98Ron fuel i like BP Ultimate and use it in the GTO all the time. Im going to change the gearbox oil apparently that Syntrax is really good. Mmmm gotta check the timing belts though.

Mmmmm as for chassis bracing....i dont know for now ill be happy maybe in the future i may get front and rear strut braces. Is there that much difference between the N3 and N5? I think the N3 handles great but i cant compare it to a N5 cause ive never been in one before :(

Purr-geot fingers crossed it should be reay for sunday. Im just hanging to drive it but if its done ill definately make an apperance at the cruise :)

3 of the rims are in good nick...1 is a bit scrateched. The other(spare) has been bady bent and is pretty much useless. Im not sure if im going to sell them or not....i might keep them for when i take the car to the drag strip or track events. If i do consider selling them ill let you know :)

Those cars in the backlground are wedding cars. My dads business is a wedding car hire company and the cars you see in the background are those. I think the ones in that pics are Mark 5 Jaguars. There are Jags, Mercs, Bentleys, Rolls Royce and sum others there.

For more info and pics check out my website on cardomain.
I just updated it today after like a year. (Yes im lazy lol)

I know how you feel WRCPUG - I'm putting the same motor into my SerIII 205 - haven't driven the car since last September!

Almost finished though - just finished the 2.5" s/s mandrel exhaust now its custom radiator and electrics and thats it.

Tell me - have you had any dramas getting the GTi6 computer to respond? I've heard they have a "lock down" function which renders them useless if they are not removed from the original car in a specific way? I'm not up to that stage yet so I don't know if it will be an issue or not.

Cheers

Yes....the Auto Elec is having difficulties getting ignition. He said the Fuel pump and starter motor are all working but said something about the immobilizer??? Thankyou so much for bringing this "lockdown" function to my attention. Ill tell him about it....BTW do u have any more info on this lock down function or any tips on how to get the ECU running again? Cause its really put a monkey wrench in the conversion frown

As I understand it you are supposed to disconnect the computer from the parent car whilst the ignition is on OR within 10 secs of turning the ignition off. After that time the immobilisation function kicks in thereby rendering the computer useless if it removed. However, if is removed while the circuit is still open then it never locks (or so I'm am lead to believe). I think it may have something to do with the key (it may have some kind internal coding) - so hopefully you still have that.

My motor came from the UK. I think the chances of a wrecker knowing how to disconnect the ECU properly would be pretty slim. I'm preparing myself for the cost of a replacement computer (unless the one I have can be reprogrammed? anyone?)

Hope this sheds some light

Oh oh...u are scaring me man. Damn i dont have the key or anything. I bought the car as a writeoff so i dont think i removed the ECU in that way u mentioned. SHIIIITTTTT....how much does a replacement ECU cost?

The car key is part of the whole immobilisation deal.

Once or twice, I've had the car refuse to start -- but after taking the key out and putting it back in again, it started fine. I guess it didn't have a chance to read the immobiliser code off the key the first time.

Normally, along with the car manuals, radio head unit unlock codes, etc. you get a little plastic credit card-like thing with your immobiliser code on it (it's just printed on it, not a proper magstrip card or anything.) With that code, you can get a dealer to program a spare key so it can 'mobilise' the ECU and start the car.

If you don't have that immobiliser code, maybe a Peugeot dealer can help? They might be able to access a database of VINs and the corresponding immobiliser codes. (I'm not sure if there is such a database, but it can't hurt to ask.)

Finally its almost done. We dropped the car into Regan Motors on friday then they dropped it back yesterday.

They got rid of that lockout feature crap on the ECU and i think cut a new key.

My dad took the car for a spin round the block and came home. His first word were that little car is a rocket now. Apparently it was breaking traction through 1st and 2nd gear.

Ahhhh i cant wait now it should be dont by the weekened. Im gonna go down on friday and hopegully finish it off cause i dont have uni that day :)
