Melbourne Cruise Poll

Yeah, I want to see some Cits. I saw a CX the other day, and as I had nothing else to do followed it for a little while. The things that stand out in my memory are that:

a) It smelt terrible
b) The owner chucked a cig butt out the window
c) It kinda looked like one of those V8 Rover hatchs from the rear...

So come on Cit owners, we need you to improve our expectations of the cars and their owners :D

re:

Dino, I'd wholeheartedly recommend a nice Nissan Micra CVT auto for you...................

:)

the way i drive, it would not help my argument...ie...it would then definitely fall into the SUPER-mini class....
:)

not a bad idea though,....i dont know about the transmission though....not something i d like to drive through the countryside, much rather a proper manual....also with the micra we could have some real POWER (or lack of) issues....

:)

DTwo: I never considered doing anything but rebuilding or putting a new 7M-GE in. Parts are scarce and expen$ive enough as it is before importing something else... Maybe a missed oppertunity... Anyway, the 7M-GE is a fine engine, if only it didnt blow its head damned often. To cut a long story short I purchased a Cressida with a blown head, its still driveable so long as I keep coolant up though.

Rebuild will probably cost me about $3700 all up, making it a $10,000 Cressida :( Now I am a VERY poor uni student :(
Yeah,
7Ms are notorious for blowing head gaskets......perhaps you should be getting it O-ringed and using a brass gasket while you are at it.....overkill, but it won't blow another gasket anytime soon.

$3700 sounds very good for a full rebuild....

touche tongue .

youd never see a sitrohen on one of our cruises in a trillion years - theyd probably be in a workshop, somewhere in timbuktu, getting that "wierd up and down elevator-like suspension" overhauled roll_lau .

besides, theyd find it hard even keeping up with a 504 automatic :D .

the only chance i'd get to see a sitrohen is on the side of a road (waiting for the racv) or in ma rear veiw mirror head_ban ,

ahihi,

erm....

It's citroen bashing time?

I could probably bring along a Xantia (16v auto) instead of the 205 if you guys really want to see Citroen on the cruise....

The Xantia wouldn't have any trouble keeping up....

Only one thing wrong with this statement.

The RACV guy wouldn't bother turning up, he'd just send a tow truck straight away.
:D

Hi guys,

I've kind of forgot to keep up with what's going on :) (damn work)

From reading the past posts I gather this is on the 22nd (the day before the French Car Day) but have no idea where (and when) we'll start off, where we're going

Looks like it'll be an All-French weekend for me dance

I will shortly be asking interested players to contact me privately, as I'd like to finalise the cruise details offlist, as per some advice I received.

But option 3 looks like the go - and it's my personal pick too :)

Cheers,

Justin

I would also like to recommend that if people coming can get there hands on a hand held UHF CB radio, it would be quite handy to have. Last drive they were useful as it meant those leading the convoy could radio back with traffic warnings (to assist with overtaking 4WDs that you can't see over or around etc).

The cruise is only just over a week away. A route guide is being prepared, and will be sent to those coming along.

Important details:

Saturday 22nd of February 2003 at Healesville at 9AM.

If we can move off around that time, there are a couple of treats in store.

At this point in time these Aussiefroggers have expressed an interest in coming along:

It's a very Puggish looking crowd here. Please confirm if you're coming along.

I'll be emailing the document out, so if you don't have an active email address listed in your profile or you have another preferred email address, please send me a private message.

Cheers,

Justin

I will most likely be there, i dont find out if i'm working that day until mid-week.

*bump***

eyyy justin,

ive just cleaned ma inbox of porn, so "fire away" mallet .

be at the cruise with bells, whistles, and errr a carton of styvos. be at the afd, also.

dood, just thinking, we may have crossed paths at a pccv meeting. u rocked up in a navy 307 accompanied by a lady friend. it was the night of the new falcon discussion. i was in a grey suit (just arrrived from work... and errr, after work drinks, hiccup!) and looked like a triad life member. i think u may have parked next to "chloe" and was chekn out her damaged headlight... dunno.

think you were the dood that was asking a million and one questions wink .

neways... how bout those sitrohens?! and errr, renalts?!! they must be scared sh!tless, obviously... harharhar. nothing to fear, the peugeots on the cruise will be all so gentle. besides it "aint" a race... we'll make sure we leave our superman capes at home mallet ... and, ummm besides, the racv is only a fone call away dance

ive just jinxed maself mallet ,

pugjet black_ey

P>S. the "to do list" is still as long as the yellow brick road... "there's no place like home, there's no place like home, there's no place like home... ".

On those 'sitrones', I was thinking I'd never see more than 1 per day, but what do you know! Yesterday I saw 8 all within 2 blocks in the CBD! There were 3 CXs, 1 DS, 1 XM, 1 Xantia and 2 Xsaras. Probably a few Berlingos around too, but they don't stand out as much.

Since my car has once again decided it won't attend a froggy cruise (which it should'nt anyway, being japanese and all). I could attend anyway to take lots of happy snaps if anyone has a digi camera I could use?

Reg,

Methinks we might've crossed paths, although I don't remember parking next to a 205. I remember a white 307 though. Geez, why didn't you open your mouth and say hello :)

Now, all we have to do is make sure that you keep Chloe hidden inside a safe for the next week, safe from other funny drivers out there, ok :)

Could those attending please send me a PM, or leave a message on this thread please?

Well I'm obviously coming. I've been practicing reving the crap out of my poor little car just so it knows what's coming evil
