The owner of the leaf was charged, and it was to avoid the vile ULEZ cameras in London.

Installing fast chargers is a smart move. When there is battery technology invented that can actually replace a reasonable number of ICE vehicles, we will then already have an established charging infrastructure it can immediately start using. Its also a good test base for any electric cars in the future. They seem incredibly unreliable .... so now is the time to get the car charging system debugged and working reasonably for the future :)

it’s no secret Renault stopped bringing in Clio Peugeot stopped importing 208 despite other markets in the world embracing these 2 iconic models including Japan and the UK we find ourselves having to enlarge car parking spaces
Remember the days of America America ra ra ra ra Hummer?
IMG_1224.jpeg

Get an EV Hummer and the battery alone weighs more than most whole cars at over 1,300kg. Kerb weight will be over 4,000kg. Before even thinking about towing, add some accessories, passengers and luggage and you would have a GVM over 4.5t, making it a 'heavy vehicle'. Not only would you need a truck licence, but a whole host of local roads would be off limit. I can only imagine the damage this sort of heavy off-roader would do to bush tracks and fire trails.

BTW in Japan renault Clio is a Lutetia i think they wanted Letetia

i think they wanted Letetia

I doubt it. Lutetia is Paris.

The court ruled earlier today that the state’s levy on EVs was unconstitutional. Victoria now faces the task of winding back plans to tax EV drivers.

where will the state and territoriy government get its revenue given it wants all ICE off the roads by north of 2030 no petrol excise ???? Now more than ever it makes sense to go EV no wonder they are now winding back rebates buying EV as well as putting the stamp duty back so on the one hand it wants you to get ICE off the roads, on the other hand it wants to rip you off by putting on charges to purchase an ev what is it that they want? You can't have it all you know, it's not Wendy's Burger joint.

I like it, it looks nice. A little glamorous, but still pretty. But the price is a little steep. I guess they expect to sell it to people who are bored with one tone cars.

Yes, Victoria has to refund a lot of people. It will eliminate the unfair treatment of PHEVs under that tax too. It's not as though the states have been missing out on anything they had previously been receiving. Fuel excise was collected by the Federal govts, but the Vic govt thought EV owners are saving some cash vs what they would be paying for an ICE vehicle, so they would like to pocket the EV owner's saving. Victoria has created such a growing debt problem they needed to try on this EV charge, so will now be looking for some other ways to plug the black hole.

2030 is only a moving target - it isn't intended to mean no ICE cars on the road by then, just a target for 50% of new sales to be EVs. That's going to be a challenge, so it will be a moving target for sure. For the individual consumer, just ignore it and buy an EV if it will do the job for you. For many people, the cost / value proposition and the tech / range needs to improve first. Your C3 article shows some movement in the right direction.

BYD Chinese maker reviewed in Germany- The Germans love it love it love it, the comment was it is whisper quiet 0-100 in 3.8 seconds in AWD version and it was tested on the Autobahn which has no speed limit and the Germans love it , absolutely powerful and whisper quiet even at very high speed, you keep hearing 'Wow' 'very quiet' 'super fast' 'super responsive' watch out those old school branded heritage makers who think their cars command high prices - BYD is undercutting all makers and have come up with a product that even the discerning Car Germans speak highly of..no wonder heritage brand makers are scared stiff and that includes French automakers.
Take a hint: reduce your prices or perish!

Bad headline. Nothing really to do with 'climate change' at all. Who knows what they did to it? So you drive it in heavy rain, through deep puddles and maybe even through a ford and the battery takes on water. That's a real worry given the propensity for these things to burn up in the weeks and months after the hurricanes and storm surges (admittedly salty) in Florida over the last couple of years..
