Another R17 owner planning to upgrade

Is this the motor from the car? It's a 16TS Automatic block.

Simon. From SA, not my 17.
Bought from a friend of R8philSA
Has the same mounting holes on the block as the 807-10 in the R17.
The 807-10 will stay complete and be rebuilt later and stored with the original 4sp box.

oh wow. Spare everything to turn it back to a museum piece when you are done playing. Noice.

I thought it was a reasonable price for what you get. Not that I need or will get one.

do it :D you will need it for the better skids :)

If you want serious skids just weld-r-up. Takes a little time to get a handle on the driving technique but very cost effective.

No Shoji thats how it was. And still is in many Asian and third world countries. We've got too caught up with " work place health and safety" these days. Despite the extremes in "wphs" that are now normal, the number of deaths and injuries have not dropped greatly in proportion to the effort and cost that goes into it. Perhaps it is because we now expect big brother to take care of us and we don't do it for ourselves. A good example is the cost and effort that is now required for pool fencing and the number of small children getting drowned has hardly changed. Why, because when pools were open parents were continuosly warning don't go near etc. Then keeping a watch on children. Now they rely on a fence that any self respecting three year old can easily breach.

I hear you Sunroof.
The wife has just returned from a 3 month stint of research in central Java up in the farming volcanic mountains. The things she saw and just could not believe. What safety? As a result, one young guy had an accident broken his leg in multiple places. The witch doctor straightened it and wrapped the leg in cardboard with bamboo sticks and sent him home. No pain killers at all. They couldn't afford hospital.
But then on the other hand in Japan they are well into safety. example: the children in rural towns (where I lived) are escorted by the teachers ( my wife was one of them:wink2:) home with flags, banners and bright helmets are carried & worn by the children. Pictures are a laugh. But I still don't get the wearing of slippers onsite on a new house build?? Which I did. lol
As a woodworker, I'm into safety. Still have all my fingers but only just. Same old stories that all have heard and seen.

Hmm ??

Hi Sunroof :)
Not wishing to hijack this thread, but I cannot let these statements pass by without comment.

I have lived and worked in two third world countries and have been to Indonesia a couple of times, as i have a relative there. The difference I think is that people there do look out for themselves, but do not have a full appreciation of the risks because of restricted life experiences. We should know better because we are educated and have wider experience. BUT still we have attitudes that workplace health and safety is just a nusance and a joke, as evidence by the comment above ! Actually it is everones responsibility to look at what they and their collegues are doing and do it in a safe manner. but we do not do it and that is the failure of our lax culture IMHO.:(

Ditto with the pool safety. The loss of a grandchild would be hard to take so I callout my kids on their lax pool safety if I have to. So they do not like it but I am happy with that. People here are too busy with "more important things" to see the real values of life health and safety. Most kids die in pools after the gate is disabled so the latch does not work.

"I bought the 395 box from a wrecker so no mounts/brackets unfortunately. It was from an R18 though."

How much?
Must be scarce and is the Fuego box any use?

Shoji love the orange rear bumper, my 15 in Juane has had the bumper painted body colour and as it nears the panel man I just cannot decide whether the original grey would be better than yellow on the bumper. Decisions, decisions.
