This is how I fixed that issue:

Nice bit of lateral thinking!

I had some help on the welding around the scuttle vent, so that's done now, and the battery compartment and shelf are welded into the car. Just a few plug welds needed on the inside now.

Looking good! I would do a test fit of the rubber seal under the scuttle ventilator door to check how it sits. Easier the adjust now rather than when the paint is all done!

I've decided to sell mine, now it's finished, was great & thankfully had no rust.
Here are a few older pics. A few things like flashers a grille are altered.
I'll start on a new project, an old SAAB convertible, I picked up unseen from a Gold Coast auction while travelling home from Munich a few days ago. Was really surprised @ how clean this car was when I picked up yesterday.20211017_143440s.jpg20211017_143137s.jpg20211017_142933s.jpg

The rubber for the scuttle vent fits OK, but the vent it's self is very flat, so I will look at putting some shape in that later.

The last couple of days were spent fitting and spot welding the brackets on the both sides of the boot area:

It's amazing how long it takes (me) do do these seemingly simple jobs. And how hard it is to get all the spot welds nicely spaced and lined up! Just have to put the holes for the bumper bar brackets in, and then I'm on to the boot rim....

I'm making progress slowly. This week I repaired the edge of the boot seal lip, and started refitting the gutters, which I took off as they were pretty rusty where they are spot welded onto the body.

There wasn't much metal left on the rim where the brackets for the parcel shelf were attached:

It's much better now!

I have the body back on the rotisserie so that I can turn it upside down to work on the area the gutters were spot welded to.

The holes where I went through the body with the spot weld drill are welded up now, and I've straightened the gutters, so they will go back on the car next week.

When I was working on the boot rim, I was asked how the boot seal works. I have a new rubber seal to sit in the rim, but I'm not sure if there is any seal on the edge of the boot, or if the return edge of the boot just presses on the seal, like this:

All correct except for the profile of the boot lid, which has a return fold instead of pushing edge-on into the rubber surface. makes the boot lidge edge a U shape instead of a right angle bend!

Hi Gerry,
Still working away, but life (and holidays!) always seem to slow things down.
I have been fixing various holes in the boot, and also started putting a new bottom piece on one of the rear door inner skins.

I bought parts for all four doors from Jose Franssen. I'm going to do have to another two inner frames I think.
