I've been working away, fixing rust holes in the rear of the car...... every time I think I've finished I see another hole somewhere but I'm pretty much done now, I think. These are patches behind the shock absorber mounts and in the top face of the wheel arch (where the guard mounts).
I also discovered that the corners of the seat platform (where the rear cross member is attached) are cracked.
That's not a great surprise I guess, as the load is all concentrated in the corner, with nothing to spread it. I'm thinking of adding gusset plates like this (they will be welded to the side wall and the front face of the seat platform) to reinforce the corner.
Has anyone else had this issue, and is there any reason not to add the plates?
