What was the biggest loss, one you regret the most.

No preferential order: R12, LTi, XSi, SRDT, Subie-powered T3, 404 Ute, 67 Beetle, 180 Sport, and current HDi16
And even then I'd add another few in.

So - chronologically including those bought for my use but not owned by me (that 'company' thing):

Peugeot 205 D 1982
Ford Cortina 1.6L Station Wagon 1980

After that pretty much those on my 'signoff' which I've still got / use / attempt to fix :thanks:

1970 Morris Cooper S Mk11 (fitted initially with a 998 engine - Dad wouldn't let me have the 1275 until I'd been driving for a year!)
1974 Fiat 124 CC
1966 AH Sprite Mk IIIA
1981 Alfa Romeo Giulietta
1984 Honda City (sold the Alfa to fund some travel)
1970 MG Midget MkIII
1992 Peugeot 205 GTI
2003 MX5 NB (first new car!)
2005 Peugeot 206CC (awful, awful little car - purchased by then girlfriend, now wife)
2007 Golf GTI (DSG gearbox - compromise with wife for something she could drive and I could still enjoy. Great cars)
2009 Golf GTI
2012 BMW X5 E70 (another purchase driven by wife - achievement of a dream for her!)
1992 205 GTI (money not so tight any more - I could have a car again for me to play with)
1993 205 GTI Classic (sold this to make room for 16V project)
2016 BMW X5 F15
1992 205 GTI 16 valve conversion (will never sell)
1960 Jaguar Mk2 3.8 MOD (gradually improving it over time)
2023 BMW X5 G05 LCI (wife still loves them, and they carry a lot of mountain bikes and teenage boys...)
2022 Mini Cooper SE (now my main car when I'm not riding bike to work)
Some amazing cars in there. Always wanted a 205 gti, when I had the funds I bought the Alfa 156.

Always wanted a 205 gti, when I had the funds I bought the Alfa 156.
The 156GTA would have been a fabulous car. I still lust after a 147 GTA. Would have had a V6 Brera if only I could fit...

What was the Light 15 like? Probably my fave French car after the war. I retrimmed one.
The Light 15 was great, heavy steering & heavy brakes compared to anything else on the list obvs. but it wasn't a 'daily drive' - highlights were a trip from London to Lancs, and a trip London to Quimper in Brittany, plus many other shorter day trips. Always attracted attention every time I got it out of the shed.

What's the 270 like?
I'm in line for some money
If you sell let me know please.
The 270 is very good. Fast, but being French, it has flaws.

It's a somewhat different beast to previous fast pugs. Quite firmly sprung, very competent but lacking that sparkle of a gti6. Accurate but numb steering. Yet a talkative rear end....

Engine is the highlight, it's a beast. It tricks you into thinking it's not very special by being quiet and smooth but then it goes beyond 4k rpm and you run out of road very quickly. Not much noise but nice chirps from the blow off valve and the occasional crackle on the overrun.

It's also quite good at being a daily family hatch. Minus the terse ride over road joins. But plenty of boot space and the young kids are happy in the back. My little boy always demands the red dash lights (sport mode).

Brakes are immense and definitely overkill for the street.

It's not perfect by any stretch. Infotainment sucks in the pre facelift. Paint is soft and thin.

If I do sell I'll let you know. Come down and take mine for a drive or anytime you're in Sydney, drop me a line.

Sounds good in part and a bit flat in others. I like a terse ride. I had a 306 XSi and that was a competent / capable car on the twisties. The 307 180 Sport was good to but the 306 had a beautiful and sublime balance. The 180 is still quite a point to pointer.

Thanks for the reply. I've seen Daryl from the now defunct Lismore Peugeot Dealership and he's got a 270 and loves it.

Yes, they look so cool. I think they were very clever in cars. I love French cars for their innovation and eccentricity. But l also love German and Italian but for somewhat differing reasons. Porsche being my absolute fave. Ferdinand Porsche was voted Engineer of the Century: All Disciplines

Thanks, funny that they were called "Light" when they're anything but!

In my defence I haven't bought a car or bike for 6 months now.🤷‍♂️
Yep clean for 6 months, and the shakes are finally subsiding.😉

@Greenpeace holy shimoly! That is a diverse list. What car was the shortest ownership and the longest?
I had the XB Falcon hardtop for one week (and boy I wish I still had that one).
The 66 Mustang (that I still have) I bought 13 1/2 years ago, I just checked the receipt.
The Harley Servicar (that I still have) I bought before the Mustang, so I'm guessing about 15 years for that one (can't find the receipt)

What was the Light 15 like? Probably my fave French car after the war. I retrimmed one.
What is this was? My fathers traction is here..... its so close ... to being a car that can be driven as a usable car .... I just need to pull my finger out and go through the brakes (again).... Don't give up on them .... Just keep them under cover until you have the time/$$$ to start driving them

the tractions huge fun. I have almost zero hours behind the wheel of one ... but they are go-kart like around corner, and remarkably comfortable to ride in .... You need to remember they are nearly a 90 year old design though! So don't be thinking its a modern car :)

Yeah, l get they're old. I worked in cars for a lot of my life. Besides, I have my eyes on a RCZ.
