What was the manual 406 V6 like?

What was the manual 406 V6 like?
It was pretty good. I bought it cheap and did cam boxes, timing belt etc on it. Was a D9 with the variable cam timing motor and went well. Good fuel economy, and enough fun to drive. I think my pick of the 406s is the HDI manual, and used to lust after a coupe, but the d9 manual v6 was good.

My list, only proper going registered cars in the family. Some bought to fill a gap and done up and sold on, some just took our fancy. Listed approximate time line.
Motor bikes owned over all the years, I always rode to work and pleasure. Quite a few small and mid size motor bikes all Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha over all the years, except a Bultaco early on ! Strangely the Bully was stolen twice and then recovered, as it had no effective steering lock or key, but the cretins could'nt start it and dumped it !!

This is a great thread for me to see what many long term members have been doing since I joined ages ago when all my friends had Peugeot's! I've never had particularly notable cars, so this list should validate your life choices, though I certainly respect our GLS and the Macan is quite good fun if one must have an SUV

1989 Toyota Cressida - when many friends had Peugeot's (505 GR, 505 GTi, 307, 306 GTi-6 etc).
2002 BMW 318i Executive
2012 Mercedes C200
2012 Lexus GS250 (UK)
2013 BMW 320xi Touring (UK)
2016 Lexus RX450h (UK)
2017 Porsche Macan S (Canada) - current
2018 Mercedes GLS450 (Canada) - current
2022 Ford Escape 2.0 Titanium EcoBoost (Canada) - owned for 12 months from new, completely and utterly dreadful drive. The Macan is 5yrs older but feels 30 years into the future compared to this atrocity.

I find I fondly miss every one of these cars, even the Falcon! Highlights were ofcourse the Hydraulic Citroens but they all had outstanding properties and suited my needs at the time.
Many I sold on at a profit, a few were lost to accident, not of my fault.
If I was Jay Leno, or at least had his "shed" I would have one or two of each of these.

Edit! I also had, briefly, a Monaro GTS. It was given to me but I quickly flogged it off for a couple of thousand dollars. It was a crappy 186 with an auto transmission.... No one wanted it! If I could sell it now maybe I could buy that big shed!!!
