Sydney Cruise

Got my license back this morning - I'm ready for some nice drives again :)

congrats!! i havnt had the chance to lose my license as i drive a 505 turbo diesel. eek! But ohwell, i was thinking of a cruise mid january down the south coast through the windy roads of the national park.
I might find it hard uphills though corners are alwayz my best friend. :D
I was looking through the archives and noted that most of the members drove newer cars, hopefully a few of the older ones could make an appearance too this time round.

Just a suggestion to see what kind of turn out a cruise would attract in the Sydney region.

Yeah a cruise would be really good. Gotte strech the legs of the 306 as its only donne 3000k's in the last eight months!.
Need a good reason to scrub down the Falkens, lol. Best time i think is first or second week of Jan?? either way im up for it.
xqisid.
ps contact Deka as he's pretty good when it comes to rounding up the herd.

Pete? sold it yet?if not will it make an apperance, im asking as 505turbo has opened a can of worms here. Now that hes sugested it he has to follow up.lol

No, it's not sold yet. I'll bring the 205 along if I still own it. It must be better than an ugly duckling 309! I guess beauty lies in the eye of the beholder.

Only after one day people are interested, good sign :)

I think id be the slowest car there in my '85 505 SRDT, but its all good fun.
A nice summer drive through the National park and down to Wollongong or Robertson is always a thought.
Fixed dates, well i cant say any fixed date as of yet, but the interest is there.. 2nd week of January could be good, wait a bit and see how many others would be interested for the cruise to be held in that time frame.

Tell all ya mates wif pug's/cit's or renault's!!

cheers cheers!

their a racing circuit at goulburn that you pay for it will be around $75 each and u can go all day,you can race the pugs and we can go as fast head_ban as we want, can we give that ago maybe more people will came wat do you all think of that????

Yea, iv been to one of those track days.. really good fun :D although it was with the Sydney Datsun Club wink

Well all ideas are welcome at this very very early stage of planning.

So speak up and lets organise somethin' peugeot_ citroen_ renault_

A track day could see the modded frogz stretch their legs and let the owners really get a feel for their car without worring about the red and blue flashing from behind.

A cruise on the other hand, doesnt cost anythin' except for fuel and time.

Yeah yeah yeah I'm here :)

Where do we want to go?

I was thinking go further down south to Bateman's Bay, up through Nelligen to Braidwood, Doughboy (do they sell donuts there?) and home via Goulburn? I could do a recon drive in the next week or so and see how I feel. It'd be a longer drive.

I am all for staying well within the limits this time. I'm not 100% sure but I'd say I exceeded 130 for short periods of time on the last drive. I'm happy to be the leader if you're all happy with my pace? Everyone seemed happy last time yes?

Let me know and I'll go for a drive soon.
The second week of January is fine - I'll be away the 18th - 26th: we're taking the C3 to Noosa. Might see some of you up there!?

Derek.

oh I'd be so interested in Wakefield! Not as interested in that loooooooooong drive to Batemans Bay and up to Goulburn, that's a bit tiring. I'm more interested in a drive down to Goulbourn and Wakefield, bring it on!

OK..

I was thinking something like that would be good as the Melbourne drive seemed quite long looking at the maps that were posted.

xqisid indicated he was up for a longish drive. Maybe we can do both? :D

As I said, with these new 130km/h - lose licence for 1 month rules I'm not speeding! I need my licence for work.

I'm not too interested in Wakefield myself, primarily because of the cost.

Derek.

/me jumps up and down. I wanna go to Wakefieeeeeeeld....muuuuuuuummmmmmmmm hehe

Sure a long drive sounds nice, but we keep going south, how about North? Hunter Valley? My parents live in Berry, so I have no warm feelings about the South Coast...I've just driven the main roads that often.

Yes, I sound like I've just done a backflip, but I would really like a track day :D

The only reason I thought of going the route I suggested is one of our mechanics here at work told me it was a good run.

I did the Putty Road about 2 months ago and thought there were just too many trucks for it to be worth it. If anyone's got any good ideas suggest away!

Derek.

you saying my suggestions aren't good??  /me gets out a can of whop ass! hehe.

Could go up to Dungog and back via Cessnock and through St Albans for those who don't mind some dirt.

The Melbourne drive wasn't that long, started in the middle of the morning, and then finished lunch at 2.

It was nicely paced too.

Cheers,

Justin

Sounds good to me Lincoln :D

I really don't care where we go, but the one down south was suggested to me so I thought I'd suggest it here.

I don't mind the dirt in my car :D

OK Justin, I guess I don't know the areas you went at all - it just seemed long to me.

Derek.

I'm interested in all those suggestions above, providing it's held on a Sunday (I work Saturdays) and providing it's not before mid January-ish, as I've got a few "issues" to sought out on my 505 (it's really really crap to drive compared to my previous 504, at the moment, but the body is better).

Dave

DeKa,

You're always welcome to come to MEL to see how long or short our cruises are :)
