RS Clio - MY4 Off the road!

MY 4:
I mean, with the range of makes that they service every day - there is only 3 courtesy cars that they loan out at any one time. How bizzare is that?
Just to compare, my Peugeot dealer has 4 loan cars. You have to book about 3 to 4 weeks in advance for one. They only sell Peugeot, so they can't be that big :)

The location of the Parramatta dealer really suits my location alot more, but what can u do?
How'd you like to be on national TV? A Current Affair or Today Tonight, your pick :D

Cheers,

Justin

It's just plain crazy isn't it??! IF Renault Australia were the one's f*#king me around, i would definately consider taking to the press. However - considering it's just this one particular dealer/area I wouldn't waste my time.

Besides, they (the service centre) have my personal details & address etc - so if things got disclosed I am opening myself up to greater risks!

I'd rather just concentrate on getting the car fixed and working with Renault Australia on this one - PLUS we're aiming to get a couple of people sacked (i.e: Service managers & mechanics). They will learn next time not to treat their customers like shit.

Good work Dave. I TOTALLY agree with the comments on Parramatta dealerships. With TWO exceptions, DENLO VW, VOLVO and JAGUAR and MARSHALLS Mercedes is good there.

To justify that blanket statement I refer to:

Thomson Ford - did the dodgy used car deal on us, trying to sell us a reduced price Falcon. After getting insepcted, we found that it looked like it had gone off a jetty and resprayed. There was water damage throughout the car. We tried to say that we were simply not interested and to show us a different car, but they wouldn't hear it. A verbal barrage then ensued. Tip: never leave your car with a used car dealer over night. So my opinion of them is very low. Thomson also have Subaru and I've had poor service there too. I'd recommend Tom Kerr at Ryde if you're interested in a Sube or a Mazda.

A&J Peugeot - I've had far from good service from them. They've admitted that they're not capable of good service, and continue to fulfill my bad opinion of anything Trivett. So that rules out Alfa, BMW, Peugeot, Range Rover, Porsche and Honda in Parramatta. How's that for ruling out half of Auto Alley?

The only one left is Holden, Mitsubishi and Toyota, all of which are on my top 3 for cars I would never own.

MY 4:
My advice is: steer clear of this Parramatta dealership & there's plenty closer to the city, Hornsby and/or northern/southern beaches.
Hi Dave,
Well I'd be going to Northshore Renault at Waitara (Hornsby) - Tess' only had good (and very friendly) service from them. Not that her car's made any weird noises lately!

Derek.

MY4, I have to agree that this is pretty appaling service, but not out of the ordinary. My only experience with new car service is with our work cars (Falcons), but dealers on the whole are pretty crap. I also got stuffed around with my R21 with Oakleigh Nissan a couple of years ago (sorry Renaultturbo) when they misdiagnosed a auto trans fault, charged me $500 for a part I didnt need (which I later found out is worth $120 from Manual automatics in Thomastown!!!), took 3 weeks to get it in from France, and then when the fault returned immediatly found a loose earth for the computer was the problem and refused to refund me the $500 and put what was a perfectly good pressure sensor back in. At least I made them give me my old sensor which I reinstalled and kept the new one for when it did eventually fail a year later, but I still got ripped off.

MY4, my biggest concern now would be your confidence that they are going to do put your car back together correctly - I dont imagine they are in a mood to do you any favours now. I would guess they will not be taking the care that should be applied to assembling complicated critters like gaerboxes - there are a lot of things like bearing pretensions and the like that have to be spot on for longevity. I would be pushing Renault Oz for the work to be done by another dealer or transmision specialist, on the grounds that you have no confidence in their abilites. Good luck mate, and try not to blame the car for the dealers ****ups.
(I still love the Clio sport though, a friend of mine has one and his has been fine. He said the gearbox was a little tight when new, but bedded in nicely)

hi dave,

been following this one.

having mechanical failure on an "as new" vehicle must be quite distressing and having it compounded, further, by a bunch of d!ckwads, is just so confronting.

good to know that "things" are finally progressing with your beloved renault, even after endless "discussions", head bashing and heresay.

ive had discussions with a dealer (burwin vw) concerning blemishes in paint work on a brand new car. fortunately, the service and attention the dealer and vw australia, have provided, has proved invaluable:

* received courtesy calls every few days

* the car was taken back to the dealer, on two seperate occassions for inspection by a "paint quality" expert (from the vw grp). on both occassions, a loan car was provided from their own car yard (with nearly full tanks of petrol) and told to return the car when it was convenient whistle ... the affected panel will be repainted on the 5th of may and have been told that it will be of vw quality standard.

theyve discussed sweetners, already, everything from warranty extensions, to floor mats and free servicing. obviously, im gonna milk it evil .

ive queried them re a replacement new car, considering ladygirl's new toy was only weeks old. they replied, " even with major mechanical failure, we'd have to consider other options mallet ".

this dealer, you mention, has obviously lost you and countless others, as customers, due to their bad business practices and inept ability to understand. let this be a lesson to them. fcuk'em, i say. feed yer hard earned pennies to someone who deserves you as their "client".

good luck and keep us posted.

cheers cheers! ,

Its unfortunate to hear of experiences like the above. A couple of things. Firstly, sort out if your service issues are a dealership problem or a Renault problem. Most cases I have heard of that have been passed to Renault in Melbourne have then had good response times. File a complaint to Renault against the dealer. I have had nothing but excellent service from the Horsnby dealership.. they have also won best Nissan service centre in previous years for what its worth.

As I read somewhere, Nissan people take note of car details if they can when they see a warranted car on a track. So, if you ARE going to take your car to a track.. hide the number plates somehow, for whatever brand of car, as I know a few do such checks when they can and therefore can void warranty. I have asked the question of Renault Australia regarding this and modified cars and warranty as I want official answers on both questions. I'll follow up re that one with an email soon.

As for parts coming from France, when talking to them (Hornsby) about ordering parts they said that they think the parts come in in about 2 weeks these days, so must be flown, or express pigeon at least :) . At least its not 6 weeks that it used to be 2 years ago.

Keep us posted.

Well - for the first time in around one month i have some fantastic news!!

News just in from Renault: The gearbox is in at a dealership in Sydney. I spoke with the service manager at the Parramatta service centre (Lincorp) & they are aiming to have it ready to go this week - hopefully by Thursday or Friday at the latest.

So it's FINALLY starting to look positive & it'll be good timing for the weekend, as it is my rostered weekend off work - & to top that off it will be a 5 day break for me as i am taking a 'day in lieu' on Monday that is owing to me - to match up nicely with my next rostered days off of Tuesday & Wednesday!

So - anyone up for a cruise on Sunday?!

I think Deka should come along with this FUNKY lil' ' Ipod ' of his - to broadcast drive-time 'aussiefrogs' tunes across our radios! What do ya think Derek?!

Will post soon with more details - as they happen!
