Peugeot 406 Monaco owners.

There was a changeover period - there are even D8 cars in Europe with HDI engines and D9s without multiplex wiring systems.

The importer imported all kinds of stuff back in the day - one off colours/interiors etc
 
My 2000 D9 SV (V6) has VAN wiring - has a BSI (under the dash), but no BSM in the engine bay. I swapped an external mirror from a later CANBUS car, and although it was fully plug compatible, the mirror controls work differently (very, very slow to move).
