G'day mike my system doesn,t want to goto the update website-I have a sedan no. 5063911 a 66 car with later front discs and wide rims- at Jervis Bay Australia. Ive also wrecked another one for parts, will send the no. soon--

I finf it hard to believe that in the 404 registry,there is only one known survivor in South Africa,and yet when I lived and worked there (Johannesburg)between 1972 and 1975,the 404 was the most common car on South African roads,and not just the sedan,the wagon and the ute,were also very abundant. I had a friend who was a sales rep,for AEG the German electrical corporation,and he was based in Johannesburg,the company gave him a Volkswagen 411,wagon as a company car,and within 10 months,he asked them to give him a 404 wagon,because the 404 was considered to be the most reliable car in South Africa,and he loved it ,much better than the Volkswagen in every way. But where are all the 404s now?:cry:

@ Amopallas: I know there are still hundreds of 404 sedans, utes and wagons in S. Africa.....I am in contact with the Club there but so far I've only got 4 of these cars (plus ten 404 Coupés and Cabriolets thanks to Mr. F. Swanepoel, a different contact down there). Still working on it, I will remind their club to help us out.....

So the total is 14.
