Oil filter change interval

I write down every single detail related to any work I do on the car (mechanical, electrical, AC ...) if this is what your asking.
But if you mean an official maintenance schedule from Peugeot, the answer will be no, I only have he owners manual.

Regarding the 2nd part, your logic is encouraging & the vehicle is only driven on the highway for a minimum of 20 Kms per trip.

Here is mine for the RCZ:

4000kms of highway work in a year? In a simple tough old 504 engine? On modern full synthetic? Leave it alone ;) Change after another 4000kms/12 months.

With the caveat its parked somewhere dry and run fairly regularly. The only contamination of relevance here is condensation I'd suggest.

Not pug related specifically but should be the standard, get the oil tested! I did this on my Landcruiser, spec said city driving is arduous, 5K intervals, Test oil showed it very good still at 10K intervals. If you cannot measure it how can you manage it? I will be doing this on my rebuilt Mi16 that's for sure! Does not cost much, approx 30 dollars. Cheap insurance.
Hi.

Well done for using an empirical test to determine engine oil change interval.

This mini case study supports what I have been suggesting for a while on this forum. That many litres of good oil are needlessly replaced and tipped into the waste oil drum.

A dealer or any service centre is never going to not recommend changing oils. It’s revenue for them and what their business is based on.

As to arduous service for city driving its a bit ambiguous. It really depends if the engine is able to reach operating temperature and remain there for say 15 minutes or so. The average urban commute along arterial roads and freeways for 20+ minutes achieves this. Therefore it’s not really arduous service.

That is why many vehicles use an algorithm to determine service intervals based on a range of inputs specific to how that vehicle is used. This is a good feature that reduces running expenses for the owner without compromise for the vehicle performance and durability.

Cheers.

Here's my Belingo one.😉
Feb 2022 bought car (back again).

Feb 2022. Changed oil @ 149,000kms no filter as the clowns at Repco gave me the wrong one and I wasn't driving back to town again.
Used Castrol GTX3 that I bought on sale last year for $9.95 for 5L. I have shelves full of it.😁

Feb 2022 fueled up x 2 @ $60

March 2022 fueled up x 2 @ $70

April 2022 fueled up x 2 @ $80🥺

May 2022 fueled up x 2 @ $100😥

June 2022 fueled up x 2 @ $110😢

July 2022 fuel up?🤷‍♂️😭😭

Yeah, but the car has done 4,000 in one year?
Very little condensation will come from being parked, even outside. Blow-by past the piston rings brings lots of water vapour into the crankcase. When the engine's cold, this will condense and settle into the sump. When the engine's hot, it will stay as vapour and be drawn out through the breather. So 4,000 km made up of 200 20km trips, no problem. 4,000 km made up of 4000 1km trips, yes problem.

Have fun,

Rob.

Arduous for a diesel landcruiser, not designed for short stop start traffic!

I hate oil change wars . . . I'm out of here . . .

I gets driven every 1-2 weeks for 40-50 Kms on the highway. It doesn't sleep for months.
This is what the oil looks like:

Hi.

The oil looks pretty normal to me.

I'm a bit surprised that when I Google Cairo climate that it gets down to 11C in Dec, and 10C in Jan, I thought it might be much warmer. So your 5W-40 multigrade oil will be working well.

Cheers.

My fueling data goes into an excel sheet which calculates the consumption in 2 different units so that I always keep an eye for any anomalies.

So far it's doing pretty good thank God.
I think I'll stick to that viscosity & spec as long as it's not being consumed.
And yes it gets a little cold at night in Dec/Jan but nothing unbearable :)
Starting next oil change, I'll probably switch to Wolf Vital Tec 5w 40, which my 308 found a bit heavy on cold starts in the winter (could hear the timing chain rattle which went away immediately when I switched back to Mobil 0w-40)

That's what I call getting the oil up to operating temp

5w-40 is way to thin for the OLD STYLE xn1 engine, 15w-40 is the thinnest I'd go, but had good experience with 20w-50 (HPR30 PENRITE) over the years, dad and my grandfather ran 20w 50 in 504, 505 xn1 engines since they were brand new at the dealer. Dad worked at East Ivanhoe motors.
5w40 is ideally good for over head cam late model engines.

Every 10,000km is perfect for it, if your racing or thrashing it I'd change every 5k, but our race cars get changed every 3events. But there's also no harm in over changing oil if you've got the money too,
But 4k between services is abit much unless cheap crap oil.
Cheers BP
Yes, HPR 30 is the go. It was on special for $44 at Autobarn this week too.
