Is the Renault R19 better than any Nissan?

Better than any "Nissan" car ever made? (simply by virtue of brandname)

Or better than at least one Nissan model/car? , say a 200b or 120Y :)

mmmm, tough call :D

It was the best selling car in germany for many years... 2_cents

As much as I think the R19 is a decent little car, I'd much rather have an immaculate 240Z - silver with black interior please. wink

A quick show of hands to see how people feel about DanielSydneys statement...
Is this a serious question? Don't mean to be unkind, but "better than any Nissan"????? Th

Better than a 120Y - in every way but reliability.

Better than a 1980s 6 cylinder Skyline? I'd take quite some persuading. It'd handle better. But that 6 cylinder engine is a gem.

Better than a 240Z? Hard to agree with that either.

Better than....

I won't go on. I have Renault passions but...

I don't believe you. :p Might have managed one year...but MANY?
I think it was best selling foreign car in Germany for a while there. It is a pretty solid lump of steel so could well have appealed to the German way of thinking..... cheers!

I do have a bias a twisted obsession though as many will no doubt realise...

Germany's top 10 selling cars in 2002:

Rang Ver. Modell Jan - Dez 2002 Jan - Dez 2001 Ver. (%)

1 0 VW Golf, Bora 274.162 293.219 -6,5
2 1 BMW 3er 148.086 147.265 0,6
3 -1 Mercedes C-Klasse 125.206 156.872 -20,2
4 2 Audi A4 120.320 108.713 10,7
5 -1 Opel Astra 112.494 144.183 -22,0
6 -1 VW Passat 111.667 139.203 -19,8
7 3 VW Polo 102.592 80.639 27,2
8 0 Ford Focus 92.255 102.106 -9,6
9 2 Mercedes E-Klasse 89.029 69.142 28,8
10 -3 Opel Corsa 85.855 102.509 -16,2

Can't really see too many non German cars there!

Actually, in Daniel's defence, I do vaguely remember the R19 being a top or near top seller there - maybe for one year?

Renaults are reasonably popular in Germany (for a non German car).

Last year they were 7th overall with 205,944 sales. Whilst Peugeot were 8th, they only sold 108,560 - a HUGE gap between 7th & 8th position.

Citroen was 13th, with 65,994 sales.

Yep Stuey, Daniel is sort of right. The newspaper ads for the 19 published when it first arrived here made the claim that it was the largest selling foreign car in Germany.

Besides which Daniel has every right to be loony about 19's, just another variation of the lunacy that grips all of us here at some point. Why else would we spend time bathing in grease and glycol under older cars which by and large would be described as pieces of shit by the general punter.

cheers!

You are right, in Daniel's defence. It's hard to find too many people I work with hugely enthusiastic about my 750 but I've been in love for a horribly long time.

Won't change my vote, mind you, but that's not the point.

I saw a series 2 hatchback R19 today going over the harbour bridge in immaculate condition, they really are a nice car. Thanks ro those guys who came to my aid in this post... :D

My father owns an immaculate R19, and he loves it :) , my mother hates it  . She prefers his Scenic!
I reckon they're both good cars......for old people eek! , I'd much prefer a Nissan GTR!

cheers! Cheers Renomad
