Dspecial restoration 1975

Philippe, it looks wonderful. Really spectacular. Is the colour you choose Gris Brumaire (AC 092)? Either way, your DS looks truly wonderful and a real credit to you and the craftsman who have brought your car back to life. A wonderful inspiration.

hang on Philipe you've done in 6 months what I am still faffing over in 4 years! Main difference I rebuilt motor. Not happy! :joker:

Seriously it's looking fantastique! Tres awesome.

Are you going to take the doors off to put the windows back in etc?

Hanging the door without the glass looks like a good idea weight wise but hows it going to work out with the shuts without glass in situ?

Thank you for the compliment
I work full time so all this work is done on weekends and after work, I’m going full steam whilst I’ve still got the energy and (money:)) I’m retiring in 1.5 year and will be using this car quite a lot hopefully???.
I have done some work on the motor but likely the compression on all cylinders were excellent and now runs with the 123 very smooth.
I’m planning to fit the windows back on with doors suspended thus limiting sratches on duco, not sure what you mean by “shuts without glass in situ”. Door guides will be first with the original spacer back on in original position. Internal and external door handles will be next, then winder mechanism then glass and top rubbers it will take time and lots of adjustment and patience :thanks:

Hi
Yes correct the colour is Gris Brumaire (AC 092) an original Citroen colour came out in 1971 and non-metallic, you won’t find too many painted in that colour but as you can see stunning with the white roof. Thank you for the praise it’s always encouraging

Dspecial restoration

Rain rain rain …..Not much done waiting for final buffing weather permitting. The wheels are finished and back on the car the boot refitted and aligned the rear light panel back on and working earth issues as usual.

Philippe you're getting there! I notice you have black rubber in the light bucket space, is that a diy solution and if so is the idea to stop dirt from entering?

No! no rubber, refitted as per factory standard, perhaps a reflection of the aluminium tunnel and lower panel or a bad focus. Not long now I’m waiting on the buffing completion and then I can refit all doors bits and pieces almost everything going back on the car is new that’s the best part. Definitely going broke…….

Oh I see now. Eye sight issue! Well you can always sell it for a good figure if its sending you broke!

Philippe, what a brilliant job. Can't wait to see the final result and thank you for allowing us to see the progress. Sensational looking D and you must be so proud.

Dspecial restoration

Well thank you, not long to go now Ive done a few restorations over the years but still have a soft spot for the Dspecial/super basically for its simplicity and ease to work on ive attached some pics
1971 DS21 EFI, 1969 DS21 BVH Pallas , 1970 Dsuper and 1973 Dspecial only have 2 left now which is plenty.

I have never driven a BVH DS, but the fact that people go crazy about them, suggests they are indeed the best. I looked at your previous thread and your 1969 DS21 looks incredible. Must make a time to go through Sydney just so I can take a look at it ;-)

As I said before youre welcomed to visit anytime but the 1969 DS21 BVH is stored at my place in Nambucca Heads but the grey and my sons Dspecial are available to see.

Hi Phillipe should be cooler pleasant weather this weekend for restoration.
All those 4 cars are beautiful! The d super? with red interior is striking. Looking forward to the next installment
