cold starts in my 505

Yeah a dyno can be very useful.

I don't think I'd attempt to drill out an air corrector, they are probably a bit fussier than jets. Also a larger air corrector means the car will run leaner in the top half of the rev range (the inverse is also true, a smaller air corrector will make it richer in the top half of the rev range).

Our LRP (lead replacement petrol) doesn't actually have any standards that I'm aware of, so I think its octane rating can change day to day
LRP has (or should have to comply with the standards) an octane rating of 96, Nick - the same as the old "Super".

BP have a data sheet and other info accesible through http://www.bp.com.au/products/fuels/lrp/lrp.asp?menuid=ec

Their own version, based on the standards, is as follows:

Density 0.74 kg/l ASTM D 1298
Research Octane 96 min ASTM D 2699
Benzene 2 % vol max ASTM D 3606
Lead Content 10mg/l max ASTM D 3341
Colour Yellow
Sulphur 500ppm max ASTM D1266

Interestingly, by the way, BP recommend premium unleaded ,without afdditives, for the 505 STI, GTI SR GR and Exec

From mine and other's experience leaded fuel stopped being "Super" at about the beginning of 1994 when everybodies leaded vehicles started pinking their heads off. This was very noticeable to many people. Maybe they dropped it from 98 to 96?

Ross, here in !!NZ**!! /QUOTE]
Ah yes, sorry Jason!!
Yes, I mentioned this, because is yours not a Euro/Japanese import if I remember?? I know the euro versions have different ignition advance curves to most other markets, maybe due to the quality of local fuel in other markets?
No, my 205 is not a 1.9... Its a 1.4! (85Bhp and 85ft/Lb), called a GT over here. Basically its the junior GTi. What I was trying to get at was if the 1.4 has the same jets as the 2.0 505, is the 2.0 severly underfuelled??

Arghh!! Sorry, that should be a quote in the above post....

You might well be right Dave. I'll see if my ex oil industry engineer father-in-law knows what happened then.
