Citroën C4 by Jeremy Clarkson of The Sunday Times

Of course, a French car is built by disgruntled and uninterested Algerians in a factory with a floor made out of mud, so it’s not going to last very long
AHAH LOL,

Young Mr Clarkson has a certain irrelevant style. I've just read the bollocking he has given the Bentley Arnage - good fun!

The tv show is funnier as you get his actual inflection and the look on his face.

I love this comment :) - it's kinda a slap in the face, but also a compliment in some ways.

"This is why Australians are all such chippy bastards. Because every single one of them is descended from someone who, at some point, made a complete and utter hash of their entire life. This means they all have a failure gene in their make-up."

It was an interesting review....A good mention of the DS and those turning lights....:D

If you want to read a funny one take a look at his review of the Lexus GS430. The first page is dedicated to an 11 year old Japanese exchange student staying with his family at the moment. Hilarious, if politically incorrect. Oh and he hates the Mazda3.

You type a message in Japanese and it speaks the words in a sort of Daleky Engrish. And the first words it spoke, just five miles from the airport, were “car sick”.

lol:roflmao:

The six-speed automatic box swaps cogs like an albatross changes direction

i love it....:roflmao: :roflmao:

driving this car with gusto would be like going into a sword fight armed with a cushion

If we ignore the spectacularly horrible wooden trim we find a sense of order and logic that would make Mr Spock look like a swivel-eyed madman.

....

And this one:
"As a long-distance cruiser this car is quite simply outstanding. Better than a Gulfstream V, and maybe even a rival for teleporting"

The Guy is a complete w@nker. He mentions next to nothing about the car, yet bullshits on for several paragraphs about nothing.

What a waste of precious internet space

seeya,
Shane L.

That's his style. You either like it or you don't. Many do, many don't. As for precious net space, ha! It's full of porn and I don't think even the porn industry would call that precious.

I don't mind Clarkson, I used to like him and the show alot more, but have gotten a bit tired of his rants. I wouldn't mind a bit more info about the car itself, but then again, that is what he has made his career on - scathing attacks and going off in a really big tangent. Both not the norm amongst motoring scribes.

When it comes to comedians, I'd rather read Jay Leno or even Rowan Atkinson's stuff, both currently write columns for Octane Mag. Clarkson is memorable though, he has the ability to make such outrageous comments that one can remember what he said very clearly. Even years later. I really like Tom Fords style, which is silly and informative at the same time. Cockburn also makes me laugh (Wheels or Motor).

If JC had more ability as a driver or occasionally pointed out some real world criticisms of how the car rides or steers, I would probably have a bit more interest in what he has to say. For this reason alone I prefer Fifth Gear even though they have a tiny budget, their pictures are poorer and video editing skills are nowhere as slick or schmick as the camerawork and editing that is seen on Top Gear. They have the best drivers and one gets a better sense of the thrill of the drive.

The Stigs, though, phwoaaaar! As Ali G would say "Respekt"

JC did a great series a while ago on the BBC, "Meet The Neighbours". He would report on car culture in various parts of the world. For Australia, it was the mining scene and the vehicles used. For a series like that his style of humour was perfect - offensive and generalised

I used to hate him, and this was made worse when I was given a book written by him before he was really famous.

Now I reckon he is sensational, I hate what he says sometimes, espeically the way he bags Mercedes (one episode he loves Linguatronic - in the SL55 he bought, then a few months later he hates it - in the CL65), but he is great.

You have to know when to take a grain of salt, its just a bit of humour. And he does make valid observations of cars handling dynamics I think, by and large he says similar things to real journalists, just a bit of quirky humour on the side...

He likes the new Astra (but the badge means its for proles only), and I'd have to agree!

I think he's great, laughed from top to bottom - will make sure I catch more of the mans work.

Chris.

Did anyone see the test he did on the Vauxhall (Holden -HSV) monaro? My favourite bit was when he said you need to turn off the traction controll, because if you don't, you get little voices. You then hear recorded aussie voices saying "you poof, why are you using TC, my sheila could drive better than this", and so on. I thought it was great! john s

I printed and read the C4 and Bentley reviews last night. I was laughing so hard I had tears running down my face. He is a kack!

We don't have pay TV but probably the only reason I would get it would be to get the top quality motoring shows, including Top Gear.
