Big Brakes for the Dauphine

8G stuff rules itself out based on rarity really. Even though 5A stuff must be getting in pretty short supply now. However the Mecaparts "8G" cover for the 5A motor is a pretty convincing piece of engineering!

Back to the original thread though. I was handed a copy of an item today from a UK magazine called Retro Cars, this February 2004 edition features Steve Swan's heavily modified 8G and goes into some detail of the performance modifications made, not how, just what is in it. The car apparently produces 175 bhp @ 7500rpm with a Salv Sacco sourced motor based on a 5GTT block with 5A head. But it also details brake modifications using redrilled Vauxhall Cavalier discs with Golf GTi calipers up front and Citroen BX rears, as well as serious gearbox mods. It certainly seems worth a look for those into performance oriented retro Renault's.

I don't know if Damien Gardiner is still subscribing to this forum now that he has gone miniature trains - but from memory he was playing with 16 discs on the turbo 10 race car. - you may like to email him - his addy should be on the membership list.
