Hi, although you got no response theye are far from identical, having both a variety of diff and gear ratios.
I think you will still find info by searching the technical forum as it will have originated before 2006 (data shouldn't be in the lost lot). Alternatively sites like 205 drivers in the UK will have lists of the combinations.
Peter T probably has a list at his fingertips but I can't find mine.
I have a 1999 model pug 306 N5 (1800cc) gearbox I got the other day and am going to put it in my BX 16 valve which has a crunchy 3rd gear, it had a chipped tooth that got worse after a track work out.
Im not that cluey at all on BE3 gearbox ratio's, is it worth sorceing a genuine Mi16 box? I have read on UK and Peter Taylor sites that a 205 gti 3rd and 4th are worth adding to a Mi16 gearbox has anyone gone through this process? this car is really just for track use.
I think it's worth getting an Mi16 box & changing 3rd, 4th & also 5th. As you said its a track car & you'll still hit 200kph at peak revs with that combination & it keeps the peaky 1.9 in its powerband.
Not sure what ratios the 1.8 84Kw motor uses, but the modified Mi box is a proven combination.
Don't want to hijack the thread but im confused...
A BE3 box from a 205 , although the same, has different ratios than a BE3 box from an MI16?
I put the 205 gear box onto the MI16 engine Currently at 100kph the engine is reving around 3000rpm
As for the lots of numbers shown above - does this mean the higher the final drive the less engine revs at the same speed ? I see the ratios are the same, but the final drive is different
