This series 2 has been making a fair bit of gearbox noise but the other day it was hard to engage 2nd or 1st.
But then I took it out and it seemed to be bogging down and seizing in reverse.
Today i attempted to start it and it was like the engine was partially seized but then as soon as the clutch was pulled in it released.
With engine running without the clutch it makes a strong whining and this disappears with the clutch in.
So it's parked up and is scheduled to have the gearbox ripped out.
Has anyone else experienced this kind of thing? It seems it is just shy of having a catastrophic failure. I think bearings in there are way past their use by date. It's has over 400K though this shouldn't be curtains for a box, but in this case it seems it is.
I'm very interested in anyone else's experiences.
