Hi just had my rims widened to 15 x 6 and new tyres at my local tyre place but the guy said he couldn’t balance them because of the rim design. Anyway can anyone tell me where to take them to get balanced? In in Adelaide.

Some truck specialists can do an "On Car" balance of your 504 wheels.
The problem with the 404 and 504 wheels is that there's no centre hole to allow the wheel to be put onto car tyre retailers balancing machinery.

There was a thread on this a while ago.

Go to comment No. 5 - Bob Jane Salisbury??

Bob Jane in our locale used to be able to balance my 404 wheels...but alas No longer :(
.....they've changed their balancing machines and can't help us out any more.
That's when I reverted to following up with "on car balancing"

Cheers

I recently had my P406 alloy wheels balanced by Bob Jane Tyres at 240 Main North Road Prospect. The P406 rims have no centre hole which meant that other stores weren't able to fit them to the more common balancers. I assume this is the same problem you are having.
Their phone number is (08) 82696688; they should be able to help.

That's interesting Eccles. All three 406's we had in our family had a small cap in the middle of the alloy wheel with a Peugeot logo on it. The cap was knocked out to slide the wheel onto the balancing machine at most tyre fitters. The 403,404 and 504 wheels are solid steel all the way across the centre part that mates with the hub. On my last trip to Bob Jane they were unable to balance the 404 wheels because of teh solid centre.

Cheers

My GTi6 rims didn't have a hole in the centre either. Quite a few Jax tyre places have the adapter to balance rims without a hole in the centre.

Cheers

If you're in Sydney there is a place at Penrith that I believe can balance the 403/404 type wheels. CC Tyres 108-110 Batt Street Jamisontown 4731 4822. They are close to European Autocare so get a lot of old Citroen and Peugeot wheels from them to balance.

or make the centre's removeable like i did on my 404 get them balanced anywhere !will try and find the pic ,

I used this mob last time I fitted new tyres to the 504. They did not have the correct "collared" studs for their balancing machine. They did them twice and the wheels were still out of balance. I then went to Colliers Granville and they balanced them.

I hadn't thought of Colliers - good idea. I'm sure they could do 3 stud wheels too.

Tyrepower at Hastings on Westernport SE of Melbourne have the adapter to do my 203. No problems and they most certainly have no plans to discard such a precious piece of equipment.Truck places used to balance the Hiace on the vehicle. No longer own it but they're still happy to do most vehicles with similar problems. You will find most tyre services helpful with information at least.

This is a much better idea

I went with Bridgestone Service Centre Unley last time I needed to get 504 wheels balanced. The wheels on the ute need a ridiculous amount of weights and they kindly marked which wheels would be best to put on the front. They were conscientious, did a good job and the price was good too considering the extra labour and materials required!

I never had much luck with Bob Janeses in Adelaide.
