Hi All,

As the title says I’m wanting to fix an oil leak without pulling the engine out. I replaced the rear main seal last time I had the engine out and did the clutch. I assumed it was the source of the leak but it’s leaking in the same area so it may be the L shaped seals in the main bearing cap. Obviously I’d need to be careful not to disturb things too much and use feeler gauges to hold the seal in place when refitting it, but in principle would it be possible??

Otherwise I’ll pull out the engine again and do it all properly again.

it would be a lot easier out, Achievable but having done the clutch in situ i know what I would. Use a good sealant as well when your doing these just a little bit on all surfaces.

Thanks Matthew, will have a think.

Can do some other stuff too if the engine is out…

Yes its a bit of work but so much can be achieved! Clean it, paint it etc etc
