am currently on the look out for a silver 206, preferably an automatic (unfortunately!) and under 20K so probably a 99 or 00 XR model.

If you can stretch to the newer 16 valve model with multiplexing, I would highly reccomend it.

I drove a 206 Auto for a few days when the 306 was being serviced, and it wasn't as bad as you might think. In fact, I was amazed how well the auto worked. Smart little gearbox. Fun little car.

I am pretty sure multi-plexing brought the better trip computer and nicer guages. Little things like that meant a lot to a geek like me =)

Good luck.

The 1.6 16V models are the ones to go for - they are the more recent cars.

Hmmn, I don't know whether the AL4 is smart. Maybe a wannabe smart gearbox :)

Still every software patch later, it gets better :)

As Brendan said, the MY2002 cars were multiplexed. Benefits include a better stereo (original Pug), remote controls, trip computer (although the 5DR XR 1.6 16Vs were discontinued early last year, when the 1.4 8V XR $19,990 "Clio Beater" came onto the market - this has no trip computer & a different multi function display). Otherwise the only option is the XT, which IMHO is overpriced and an expensive little car.

Gauges are the same, but you do get the multi function display in the centre of the dash which shows - like the below picture (it's from my 307 - but the red display is the same)

Of course, if the heavy braking flashing indicators are important, well you get them too in the 2002 cars :)

Cheers,

Justin

BTW: What is WTD? WT is Want To. I know WTB is Want to Buy - what is WTD? Want To Destroy? question

you've got me stumped, wanted?
i must've been looking at the WTD - pug 306 thread and just typed :)

thanks for your help, definitely know more now than i used to.

I've seen it a few times, I could never work it out, because b is not even close to d on the keyboard!

I always assumed it was WanTeD or something......*shrugs*

So is the 206 auto for you? If so......you're going soft :D :D

no not for me, i've managed to talk my mum into a pug :D
wanted her to get a GTi6 (alterior motives) but she wants a 206.

Rare as autos, as the autos were delayed for quite some time.

Not hard to find a silver 206 though - it's one of the most common 206 colours.
