I cant say what the current rules are, but 10-15 years ago when I was involved in CAMS events you were allowed to use polycarbonate (lexan) in lieu of glass 1) in all the windows and the windscreen in Sports Sedans (heavily modified sedans - not street cars), and 2) in Historic (eg Appendix J - pre 1965) but only when original laminated windscreens were not available (for safety), and not in the other windows if I remember correctly.

There may have been other categories, but generally you had to use glass in the sedan categories where originality was required. Of course, polycarbonate is lighter, so is considered cheating if used in the wrong category.
