Where(in Sydney) do the 306 or others that don't have a centre cap get their alignments/balances? How much are you charged?

Also, any 306 owners put an alarm on their car. What makes/brands and what dollars spent?

I'm now thinking to keep the Pug so I'll prolly be asking a lot more questions.

Cheers,
Kristian

Kristian, I've got RWD Pugs but it sounds like the same wheel alignment problem. Adrian Moore Suspension at Gladesville did a good job on my 504 a few years back if that's any help. I've also been told that Hornsby Wheel alignment has the right equipment.
Maybe you could say what part of Sydney you're in.

Nth Ryde during the day
Western Sydney during weekends

Thanks I'll give them a call

Adrian Moore cannot do wheel balances though, Bob Jane can at Ashfield.

Adrian Moore did my wheel alignment and its was very well done.

Drummoyne Bob Jane T-marts can do the wheel balancing. They seem to have done good job last time.

Granville Bob-Jane does the balancing on the car.

As for the Alarms, i self installed (im a electrician and used to do alarms/stereo work on the side), my alarm, its a Balck-Widow...
If i was to get another alarm, i would buy the RA from Rhino, with an internal Siren, and ultrasonics.
The thing about 306's is that you can grab the top corner of the passengers door window frame and just reef it out from the car. You only need to move it out 5-10mm and you can thread a long steel rod to the other side and flick open the doors, hence the need for Ultrasonic detectors...
One thing to look out for, is the Central locking control box is under the rear seat, but its not a logical item and the installer must know what he is doing... its best to try and get a reputable instaler and perform the work at their premise. Also invest in an internal siren.. Also look into the imobilser side of thigs and make sure they don;t just work on the ignition cicuit, the fuel pump is S/w on via relay, its bestto isolate this with reliable external relays, as it might kill the onboard relays on the alarm, depending on the brand and who puts it in... good luck Xq

Thanks for the replys.

xq would you be interested in installing one on the side for a fee?

Kristian, err..yes but you would be without a car for about 2-3 weeks..... not kidding. Im VERY pedantic and will trial most things before and after. One of the reasons i wasn't making much money in the stereo's was my slow turn over..
SO to actually answer your question, is no... i don't have the time.
Personaly, id ring up the place you bought the car, and service centres that specialise in pugs, asking who theyrecommend, then the names that appear 2-3 times, do a little research and ask them the questions i posted before..
I wish i could be of more use, but the whole Alarm trade is very unregulated, hence hard to find someone you can trust. If in doubt, ask the installer if you can watch/assist. Most mobile installers will have no problem with that, you will learn heaps and see how they work on your car... good luck Kristian. Xq

Thanks for the advice. 2-3 weeks gosh that would work out to be about 2_cents an hr. :)

Is there anyone in Hobart who can balance wheels without a hole? (I am thinking Dunlop alloys).
Is a Rhino alarm hard to install in something like a 403?

RE, the alarm into the 403, Older cars are ussualy the easiest to install into. But be prepared to drill and cut holes, in doors, pillars, firewall etc.
You have to know how to solder, read basic electrical, use a meter and shield cables from sharp metal edges. Also DC electronics too. Ie, grounding etc.
I could give VERY detailed instructions, but ill need time, photos and some paitience andcould guide you through it. Cheers chris

Thanks for that. I am not doing it right away, 'cos I don't have the money for a decent alarm lying around 2_cents cry , and besides, I seriously doubt if anyone would want to steal my Pug at the moment. After I finally get around to respraying it they might. (besides, if someone pinced it at the moment, they would probably only get a couple of miles before they broke something, I drive it REAL careful at the moment snail ).
