Watch out for suspicious RS Clio's :-)

That statistic that Victoria has more fatalities than any other state is simply crap.
<a href="http://www.atsb.gov.au/road/stats/current.cfm" target="_blank">Australian Transport Safety Bureau - Current Road Safety Fatalities</a>

I'm tempted to believe the national agency.

Below are some fatality rates I've calculated. I don't know what the car usage rates are in each state, so we'll use population as base from which we can ascertain fatality rates.

198,000 people in NT. 20 fatalities YTD - 0.101 fatalities per 1000 people.

4,873,000 people in VIC. 158 fatalities YTD - 0.032 fatalities per 1000 people.

6,640,000 people in NSW. 225 fatalities YTD - 0.034 fatalities per 1000 people.

So yes, the NT has a fatality rate more than 300% of Victoria.

Population stats from the <a href="http://www.abs.gov.au/Ausstats/abs%40.nsf/94713ad445ff1425ca25682000192af2/54f9dc094d0b4814ca256d39001bc333!OpenDocument" target="_blank">ABS</a>.

I may not love the obsession with speed in Victoria, but you certainly cannot accuse us of having the worst fatality rate in the country, or even the most fatalities in the country as a result of car accidents.

Regards,

Justin
