203 at speed now that is something you don't see very often
must have just come off a big down hill run :D
Judging by the look on the passengers face eek! :D eek!

203s will sit on the Aussie outright speed limit (and a bit over) for days on end!
if you push them
a standard 203 is no world beater
they are happy cruising at around 50mph in standard form
you need only see the sign keep left unless overtaking and they slow down as they know a hill is coming up
they will go quicker but it is a bit of an ask from the little engine
of course a 403 powered 203 is by far a much better cruiser at highway and better speeds

Yeah, I had fun in Dad's 403 powered 203 blowing off a Falcon which was towing a caravan on the hills between Yass and Goulburn on the way home from Young the other weekend.

Just before the bottom of each steep hill he'd start to come up on my tail thinking I was going to drop off, then I'd just floor it and maintain my speed (or accelerate slightly on the less steep ones), while his speed dropped off and he fell back into the distance, until the next flat bit when he'd catch up again.

Having said that, Dad's 203 is still very slow off the mark, but once in 4th it's not too bad. The acceleration in the lower gears seems to be hindered by a big chunk of rotational inertia somewhere (I'm thinking the big heavy early 403 flywheel, the 403B flywheel is ALOT lighter).

Spent most of my youth driving 203s and as you guys would know you don't need alot of speed to have a great time, especially on twisty dirt roads, they're an absolute hoot to drive, very predictable, everything seems to happen in slow motion, lovely drifts and slides opposite lock yee haa!!

XTC206, I'll see if I can find the site I picked the 402 off wink

Cheers
