What is the Best type of car battery that I can fit into my '98 306. AND where I can get them.

Cos my battery is flat....I need one that resist heat well and able to handle a lot of city driving...i.e. engine on/off quite a few times a day.

Cheers
Billy cheers!

Anything calcium plated (zero maintenance with a little sight glass in the top that glows an eerie green when all is good). The errie green "light" is actually a hydrometer.

I use Delkor calcium plated batteries... the Australian distributor is just down the street from work. They last for ever - we use them in our trucks which probably get ~10 or more starts a day and a thumping bumpy ride too!

Give them a call if you want to find a distributor in Brisbane. For more info:

during the wawrmer months remove the battery box cover, insulate your terminals and go from there
Make sure your cold air intake for your battery box is there and connected properly and if possible modify it to grab more cool air
Remember the heat build up has to be able to get out of the box and getting cool air in is a great start to force the hot air out
Be aware though that batteries only seem to last around 3 years in a GTi-6
I have made a few adjustments to mine to see if i can get more than 3 years from it this time around
The car is on it's 3rd battery and it turns 6 next year

Thanks for the advice guys, again!! :)

I have one of those batteries in the 205 that have a sight glass that glows errie green...does that mean I have one of those Calcium plated batteries.

Pugrambo, I will take on your advice of taking the battery cover off during the warmer months..and I hopefully I will check the cold air intake for the battery to see if it is connected properly....BTW, how can the ducting for cold air go wrong?? (may be a dumb question mallet )

Another question, the battery currently in the car doesn't fill up the whole battery box, it leaves about an inch gap between the battery and the ECU box. I am wondering if the previous owner had put a battery that is slightly smaller battery ...and that is why the life isn't as good.

Cheers
Billy
