Deb and I have been thinking about a new car for a while and the C4 is on the radar and even more so now that the diesel is available. We went to Corbans in Wollongong this afternoon to see Peter McLeod and hopefully test drive a C4 HDi. Well, we were out of luck. There is such demand for them that the dealers are having trouble getting demo models and when they do someone wants to buy them!

Anyway, Peter had a 10km old Pug 307 Estate sitting there that has the same drivetrain and offered it for a drive. So we did! We took it up Mt Ousley, three adults on board, fourth gear all the way and still some urge. 5th gear wouldn't quite do it.

Back down Mt Keira with Deb driving and then a bit of a blat down the freeway to Berkely and back to Wollongong. Deb was very impressed with the grunt in the engine esp when you notice the turbo coming on line at about 2000 rpm. 5th gear acceleration was no problem.

All in all, quite impressed and even impressed with the Pug itself - a roomy and comfortable car even for someone of my height (191cm).

It sparked both our interests in the C4 version as we both like the C4.

Corbans are waiting on word of a very big deal with the local area office of a multinational corporation. This office is replacing a large quantity of V6 engined cars with 4cyl diesels and they have three contenders. The C4 is one of them and one has already been excluded. We await the news....

The look of the 307 is nice but dont know what they drive like. People get good mileage from the HDI 307.
Craig maybe you should look at the 307 instead of the C4 it is more tested.

Company/fleet cars are usually autos... so that counts out the C4 (and 307 1.6hdi)
