The Motorsport Australia - Shannons Speed Series - incorporating TCR, Trans Am and other categories, kicks off the 2024 season at Sandown Park this weekend, 9 - 11 Feb.
Big change for this year - each event is covered on Free to Air TV on the Seven network - no excuses.
So spread the word, and let's try to get this second-level series up there where it belongs.
Another big change is that Motorsport Australia has revived the Aust Manufacturers Championship, last run in 2015, allocating it to the TCR competition, good move.

I might add, having attended several of these events, that if you are at all interested in motorsport, then these events are worth attending in person when one is in your area. Not expensive, freedom to walk through the pits and actually talk to competitors, good range of categories. My opinion is it feels like going to a decent event 40 years ago, before the full-on commercialisation of the V8 events.

Tickets are: Friday - free entry, including pit pass, Saturday or Sunday $35, or 3 day weekend pass $60 - each includes pit pass. (Prices may be for online purchase prior to event).
I believe the grid walks for main events are to be free to anybody to take part, as they were at Sydney & Bathurst last November, and these were very popular with spectators getting to walk up the grid amongst the cars formed up just prior to the race.

WATCH LIVE ON 7PLUS/7MATE
Race Sandown is available to watch live and free on 7plus and 7mate throughout the weekend.
Saturday 10 February
7plus: 9:55am – 3:40pm
7mate: 12:30pm – 2:30pm
Sunday 11 February

Commentary team announced for 2024 on FTA Seven network. Some familiar faces and a couple of new ones.

Friday Wrap for Sandown 9/02/24:

Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series
TCR Australia had two practice sessions on Friday, with series regular Aaron Cameron (Peugeot) proving his title credentials early with two strong performances.
Both sessions had intriguing narratives, with the Victorian posting a category high 1:14.9292 on his 10th and final lap, going three tenths faster than Ben Bargwanna (Peugeot), while Tony D’Alberto and Zac Soutar’s best time was just one tenth slower.
That brilliant lap saw Cameron as the only driver to go within one minute and 15 seconds for the whole day, as the afternoon session proved marginally slower.
Cameron then took bragging rights in Practice Two, edging out D’Alberto by just three hundredths of a second – the Garry Rogers Motorsport star getting his quickest time of 1:15.2467 on his fourth lap.
Despite times being slower in the session, it was far closer than practice one as less than two and a half tenths separated Cameron and the seventh-placed Zac Soutar.
TCR will be back on track with a double qualifying session in the morning before race one in the afternoon.

Does anyone know if the all conquering 308’s were the GRM built ones?

No, but they've got them working well at Sandown haven't they?
I heard them say the GRM built ones are due later in the year.
