Hi all, quick question, what size is the socket/tool required to remove the sump plug on early Pug 504 petrol sedan? Looking at an oil change soon.

Have a look, but it is probably an 8mm square drive.

Thanks Seasink, It’s square, just need to know the size as I will need to buy the socket

A 3/8" drive fits a 10mm square plug (203,403 etc). The 504 definitely uses an 8mm square drive plug. You may have to shop around for one of these.

They are carried in the auto trade tool shops, as well as from specialists like French Connection.

Or a small section of 8mm square rod with a 10mm ring spanner over the end of it. Worked fine on my BX on the weekend.

Door spindles convert to a bit over 7mm. Apart from that, how many of us have some 8mm sq bar? The sump plug tool is very cheap. you can buy one for $6.

I confess do have a file that is 8mm square.
