The rear wheel that previously had the hand brake stuck on sqeaks/squeels under gentle braking or braking when going around a corner. The wheel also makes a little squeek noise when it rotates (not using the brakes).

That wheel is on its 3rd caliper now as well... My mechanic said the disc is probably glazed from when the handbrake was stuck on. Is there anything I can do to get rid of the noise?

what is actually making the noise?

Is it the pad or the bearing? If it is the bearing thats running dry it prob hasnt got much to do with the glazed disc.

Glazed disc, does it pull to the left or right?
If it is a concern, get both rotors machined.
The sqeal is the vibration of the pad against the caliper in 99% of the situations when it is the brakes making the noise. You can try to stop it by putting a special gel/glue on the backing plate that sits against the caliper. Autobarn etc shops should carry it.

Just a reminder to handle the greased pads with care, make sure no grease gets onto the pad surface. I used to buy it from MB dealers as they sell it by small packet, around $3, enough for 4 pads.

Just wondering, does a glazed disc look different?

BTW, my brakes sqeal sometimes, dealer said it's because brakes are dirty (from brake dust), clean (rinse) it and will be ok. Is that true or not enough lube on the backing plate?

Hence the reason glue type paste is more popular than the grease. Bendix pads already come with the backing plate full of the rubbery type material.

The vibration is of the pad against the caliper. It may be instigated by dust buildup or the high content of the metal in the pads.

(the above info is from the DBA technical guys)

I just consider the gentle squealing as confirmation that my brakes are still working...

My front left brake develops a nice squeal as the brake dust builds up.

A quick blast with the hose (when discs are cold!) solves the problem.

Of course I only use the hose on the wheels, not on the car wink
