Spot a Classic Peugeot Convertible!

Hello, lions:

Gauss what I have seen this morning at Beecroft, a classic Peugeot Convertible (light sky blue colour) with badge S and its rego plate is PEU 304. It was a beautiful car to look at different angles. The car turned left into Beecroft Rd and I was just about to drive pass him on the Beecroft rd. I slowed down and take a good look at him from my mirror, and suddenly he accelerated and overtaken me. Is the owner an Aussiefrog member as well? Does anyone know the name of the model? The front of car looked like a Peugeot 504, but it’s a convertible (Please excuse my ignorance on the history of Peugeot).

It's a 304 cabriolet, and I think it's probably the one that was just imported by Jeremy Kriewaldt. He found it while working in London. He also has a 504 cabriolet (which look totally different to the 504 sedan).

They sure are a rare vehicle!
I saw a red 304 convertable in France just near Monte Carlo & that's the only one I've ever seen in the flesh.
There is a Peugeot range cattledog for the UK market on the <a href="http://www.aussiefrogs.com/Sales_brochures/peugeot_range/index.htm" target="_blank">site downloads</a> but it only includes the 304 panel van (models from 78-79).

Well I'm a lucky devil then, because I had a ride in a nice sporty red 304 Cabrio, with wide wheels and 504 twin headlights, when I was at the 1998 Canberra all French car day. It was a very cool ride! It's a pity they aren't more common. An Mi16 engine in one of those would be just sweet!

Oh that's a nice car

No news from the dealer yet. I might drop by and talk to the sales this weekend.
 
nice but i feel they lack the styling of a 203 or 403 cab
my order of preference if i had a choice would be
1 403 cab
2 203 cab
3 504 cab
4 404 cab

the 304 just seems to be too short in the body to carry the cab look as well as the others
the 306 cab carries a little length in the body but when they have the top up they loose everything then

Personally the 404 cabrio is my pick of them as far as looks go. The optional 1618cc Fuel Injected engine is also probably the sweetest pushrod engine that Peugeot ever built, so that gives the 404 Cabrio some extra brownie points.

Yep the 203, 403 and 404's are all lovely, (and even the 504 cabrio is pretty special ).

The Renault Caravelle was pretty cute too.

They really knew how to build lovely open cars, the French, during the 50's and 60's. Pity more didn't make it out here

But I reckon this is one area where the topless DS is just about untoppable.

There was a 204 cabrio, it looked like a white bathtub, in the Lucas/Nubrick/Duttons rally some years ago.

Actually it's interesting to note that the 204 and 304 cabrio bodies are the same from the windscreen pillars back.
