Congratulations Fernando Alonso and Renault F1!

Pole position for the Hungarian GP. A win is possible from here, as overtaking is difficult at this circuit. So provided Alonso makes no major mistakes and the car is reliable this could result in Renault's first win since their return to Formula 1... and hopefully the first of many.

Hungary sounds like the type of circuit where Renault is going to do well on .. their HP disadvantage doesn't have much of an influence.

Given Renault's great aero and amazing launch control, and the difficulty of passing at Hungary, things are looking good indeed :)

Where was the last time they had a Renault 1-2 on the starting grid? Malaysia? (I can't remember..)

Oh yes.. 1st, just where he deserved to be.

Damn fine job.

Even a pug fan like me would say "well driven" Fernando, i was very impressed with both car and driver; he held off everyone quite well.Again another great drive by Mark Webber considering he was driving a Jaguar. How scary would have Rubens been after that "mechanical fault"????

Wonder who will win the world championship?
1 Michael Schumacher Ferrari 72

2 Juan Pablo Montoya Williams-BMW 71

3 Kimi Räikkönen McLaren-Mercedes 70
Looks likes we will know who will be champion for 2003 in Suzuka.

With guys like Renualt,Williams,Mc Laren and to a lesser extent Jaguar really getting their act together this year and caught up to Ferrari, next seasons World Championship should be one of the best we have ever seen for quite a few years. wink dance cheers!

Yes it should be good,
it was boring watching Ferrari winning all the time.

A win like that for Renault mean Millions of dollars more to go towards R&D, and the more money you have, the more reliable the F1 cars will be.

That's why Ferrari does so well, bottomless money pockets...

Maybe Ferrari should give some money to Bridgestone to do somemore research & development...

I heard last night that he won the race didnt Alonso. Is this true?
This is really fantastic news.

Renault we dont just make cars we create cars

This is the first GP for ages that I haven't fallen asleep by about lap 10. A truly fantastic drive and result for Renault. I haven't been this excited by a GP win or driver since Senna was motoring around in the JPS Lotus. Just a pity Alonso didn't do it in Melbourne when I backed him at 100/1 each way.

WOOOOOOHHHHOOOOOOOOO! BACK TO THE GOOD OL'DAYS!!

So romantic to watch a Renault win a Grand Prix again....20 years to my calculations. So good to hear the pain in the ass French anthem :D ....it was fantastic.

Viva Alonso
Vive le Regie
cheers!

My sentiments exactly.

Looks like things are returning to the way they should be. Renault at the front, where Renault belongs.

WWWWOOOOOOHHOOOOOOOO
The right car won for change....all that is needed now is a 1 & 2 finish. Like I told one of the guys I work with today when he chucked off at French Cars, I didnt see a Toyota on the podium...and i dont believe they have had a top finish yet.... Viv le France

Cheers chris....

PS..Dont think it has been 20 years though

Top race, top win, awesome battles and incredible come backs, all nicely wraped up by a Renault win!!

I think Ferrari will bring back Goodyear to F1, and bridgestone will take a break.

DREAM TIME>>>> Turbos are back, slicks, methanol and active everything!!, x2 US races, an extra asian race like both China and Sepang, Webber with Miki at Maclaren in the new car and Alonso with James Courtnay at Renault!! - chris

It is the sort of thing that gives you tingles.

It was as though Alonso was driving a completely different car to Trulli? Maybe Trulli is as good either?

It is so good to rub into the FORD fans, especially when reminding them of how many of the FORD engines blew up!!!

Three cheers for RENAULT

Fair to say that the Ghosts and gremlins that prevented Renault from being world champions 20 years ago would be starting to worry...(maybe these gremlins/ghosts were in the form of the board of directors of the time :D top-heavy management collapse put Renault in a real crisis in the 80's  ).

They've done really well to be on 'schedule'. Return to F1 by 02, race win by 03...challenge for title 04?? championship by 05??? we're certainly on track....same cant be said about the competition (BAR(Honda) roll_lau , Jaguar(Ford), Toyota).

DREAM TIME? definately turbo's and Ayrton Senna
