One thing I noticed was the early Bonnet "Renault Diamond" on the front, never seen that here in Australia on a car, I think only the very very early Renault 15 and 17's sold here had them, long gone now............ someone would know those details.....

That's the early model 15/17 diamond. Only used on the 1972MY 15/17 it is a transition version before the Varsely diamond was adopted. They were also on the early evaluation, road test and brochure shot 15's and 17's that were imported by Renault Australia.

Hi Guys,
if I am not mistaken this car used to be owned by Don Hadfield of Hadfield and Sparkes motors in Auckland, he only sold this car about 6mths-1 yr ago. He had it for about 3-4 years- his own personal car. It really is a new car in all respects, Don tried to sell it to me but by then I was too committed to my R17. The other thing is that it only goes like a standard 15 too, and now knowing what they can go like, I couldn't cope with that!
It's a minter though- I think Don was after something like $6500 NZ from memory-but I can't be absolutely sure...I wonder what the guy in Wtgn would take for it?

Cheers Ben

Thats the sweetest R15 Ive ever seen !

Its prestine.

Feel safe to say that its probably the best original R15 in the World.

Thought you might have been selling your R15 for a sec when I read the title Covert.

Totally agree, it is a sweet looking 15
Could even be tempted to buy one if it looked half as good as that one. Prefer the 17 but WOW

well Reno17 I must admit it is a very fine example, it would be good to have a original one next to my 15, but as I have the A310 and a 17TS in parts I have to many, I am coping enough pressure from a certain partner about the amount of cars I have. With uni and work the restoration of the A310 is like at a stand still, also I could not be able to store this pristine car in the way it should be, I hope it goes to a good home either in nz or australia, import into australia would not be that much I suspect, duties on a old car and shipping

Hmmm I hear ya Covert
Resto of a A310, sounds like a pretty involved project. Is it a 4cyl or a 6 ?

GOD DAM that R15 is sweet!!
Gets better every time I look at it.

Except for the itty bitty bit of rust on the front of the bonnet........
Is that usually the first place 17/15 rust???
I thought the door sills were pretty vunerable also?

Think of where cars usually rust, then think again of where they don't rust to get an idea of where 15/17's rust. Even I was surprised, plenum chamber, front door pillars, chassis rails, rear panel behind bumper, top of tail gate, roof above tailgate, all in addition to the usual pots of doors bonnet and sills. The earlier 1973/74 models of 15TS/17TL/TS appear to be less rust prone than the later cars with the altered tailgate badges and the 17 Gordini .

I like it! I want it! I'll swap my Fuego for it!

cheers! Cheers Renomad
