The interview is in Finnish, but enough footage of the incident included. The engine had been running bit hot on previous stages, so Timo 'engineered' a solution, he jemmied the bonnet slightly ajar to let more air in and secured the bonnet with heavy duty leather strap. Half way into Ouninpohja, the bonnet popped open hard up against the windscreen. The navigator asked about pace notes and he said, that wasn't a problem as Timo knew the stage so well they didn't use pace note anyway. The navigator suggested stopping and closing bonnet only to have Timo swear at him and continued at full speed. They were fourth fastest on the stage.
