Does anyone know where to get rear brake shoes for the R19? I also need a new pair of rear wheel cylinders as mine seem to be leaking fluid too?

Is "autofrance" the best place to call? renault_

Come on Daniel....you should know the usual suspects by now. Pick up the phone and ring AutoFrance and Dapco or try Caravelle in Melbourne or see if original spairs are available through Renault.

Rear brakes often don't cost a motza to fix and you can usually trust them to an experienced brake speacialist and not have to worry too much if you don't want the fun of covering yoursel;f in brakefluid and skinning your knuckles on springs...losing fiddly bits and then forggetting how the stuff is meant to go back together. mallet

You could do a lot other than ask the rest of us as a first resort. mallet mallet

"Ill ignore that last reply guys".
I called Colliers Automative in Sydney this morning and David said the new wheel cylinders are $AUD77 each and the Shoes are $AUD55 a set.

Guess thats reasonable enough I guess. Will be sorting it all out this weekend. Ill keep you all in the loop(if your interested)... wink

Yeah Daniel, I guess commonsense isn't your strong point....why didn't you just ring Colliers in the first place?

Looks like he used your list as an "exception" list, Bogmaster... question
It's Daniel's life ...but yep I think he could have picked some cheaper places to shop and have made a few phone calls before launching an apb on frogs. mallet

cheers!

Daniel - Don't forget you have an RCCA Xmas party to attend this Sunday - 10am at the Aviation Museum at Bankstown - as per the Hub!

That only leaves you Saturday to install your new cylinders and shoes!!

Bogmaster - you need to spend more time at your hippy hideout chilling out - the thought of more R10's and R12's to play with is getting to you.

Regards
Kevin.

Nah Kevin....If something really quite minor happens to your car and there is a really simple commense sense easy solution....like picking up a phone and contacting any number of suppliers frequently mentioned on this site and doubtless in the club publications...or taking the vehicle to a reputable brake repairer and asking for a quote....why would you bother logging on to post here as your first option? Doh!

FIIK

Does that sound shitty enough?...yep I do find it annoying and make no apologies for that.

cheers!

Hey daniel mate, all they're trying to say is that you tend to drown in a glass of water - gees, the next thing asked will probably be a double check of which way is tightening dead

I have bought the wheel cylinders and the shoes and today I have changed the rear brakes and it is now a lot better.
Would be better if the R19 had rear discs not Drums.
Might have to look into that at some point.

Sounds like a lot of effort for no real gain with your car Daniel. Now if it was a manual with a turbo, I'd say it would be a great idea...

You could always trade your 19 in on an R8 or R10. From 1962 - 1971 they already had four wheel disc brakes; would save you the conversion.

Market price: free - $2000.

Ps I haven't yet found a dash mat for an 8 or 10 though. I would like to get one for a 19. when you get yours daniel drop me an email with the details.
