hey again. i have the 1.8 8v 306 engine, but i want to put in 16v. is there any head that fits pretty neatly from another pug engine? also i need a bigger intake manifold. are there any others i can swap it with that fit?
i went to my local pug guys (Taylors of medindie) and they told me rubbish, costing me 400 bucks and time waiting for parts... please help some1, and if any1 knows where to get a 306 garage manual, PLEASE!

Yes the 8V engine is more closely related to the 405 Mi16 engine than anything else :)

Good luck. How did you end up spending $400 if they didn't do anything for you??

Stacks of things you can do to that motor if you want it to go faster. Its basically a 205 gti 1.9 motor. Slightly different pistons and valves. But the same essentially. Another 50 bhp waiting for you if you want it. e-mail me. Dont fart arse around with stupid K&N filters and crap. You will need to spend a thousand or two.

Warwick, he's already spent $15,000 on the 8v apparently to get 125kw @ wheels....

So what's another $2k! wink

By the way, I have the Haynes 306 manual on order from Repco - ~$45 I think. It's taking them a while though...

they made me buy a rocker cover and intake manifold that didnt fit... and couldnt get any refund... im really looking for any1 who KNOWS that the "405 mi16 head bolds straight on" etc. im also looking for some knowlege on how to get my 5 speed box stronger. i didnt want to use the 6 speed as it is too fragile, but is there a rebuild i can do on the 5 speed? And are the exhaust ports on the other engines the same as on mine now, because i dont want to change the exhaust manifold for my turbo, as it took 2 weeks to make... i want to make this car strong enough to put this power down without breaking anything... what else is fragile?

Hmmm, did they reccomend the part and then simply said the part doesnt fit sorry no refund, if thats the case you may be able to use the trade practices act to get your refund...i think (asanka goes and check his Bus law text book).

no, they told me the part number and model, but i had to find thm at various wreckers around australia, who wouldnt accept refunds... but they swore that it would fit...
