Hello Fellow Froggers,
About time i do a build log.
A bit of background i owned a 206 GTi and a 306 S16 some time ago, back when i was working for Peugeot in fact. So now im back at Peugeot after 4 years and when i saw a 2007 207 GTi pop up on this forum needing some work but very well priced i jumped on it.
So some details - because i know alot of you will ask as it was priced very fairly, so i will list all the issues i have found - eventually i will sell this as its only going to be a little fun project until a nice GTi6 comes along.
Details:
2007 Peugeot 207 GTi
Shark Grey
129,xxx Kms
Bodywork:
- LHF Guard has a small dent (Will get someone to PDR it)
- RHF Mirror base has a scratch (looks like it will polish out but if not i'll get a replacement)
- Small marks on RHF Door handle (will live with)
- Moon Roof (Factory Option)
- RHF Headlamp is cracked (needs to be replaced for RWC, and is so far the hardest part to source second hand as the car has the painted option)
- Front bar has stone chips (will live with)
Interior:
- Gear knob is worn (looking for an option other than OEM)
- Two small splits on the drivers seat bolster (quite common on GTis of this age)
- Drivers Carpet mat has obvious wear marks (Awaiting a replacement set)
- RH Door trim has some small signs of wear on the suede
Suspension, Wheels & Brakes:
- Brakes all round in great condition (will paint calipers and upgrade when required)
- Front Sway bar links are missing (Having new ones fitted)
- All 'Pitlane' alloy wheels have minor rash
- Rear tyres require replacing (Need to be fitted for RWC, so am just getting some new cheapies to pass as i want to change to OZ Racing wheels anyway)
- All the rest is in RW condition and will be upgraded to better items as required
Engine:
- Full Timing job Required (Guides, pins, chain etc.. etc.. all getting replaced at the moment)
- Rocker Cover weeping from timing side (common - getting replaced with the timing job)
- Turbo Oil Feed pipe is leaking (common - will replace when i get the braided piping kit from Detroit Tuned)
- Oil Filter Housing seal (while not leaking, it is right near the Turbo feed line and may as well replace both at the same time)
- Water Pump has signs of crystallizing (getting replaced during the timing job along with fresh coolant)
- Lower Engine mount broken (getting replaced at the same time as the timing job)
All in all there is about 2k+ to spend to get it not only Roadworthy but driving properly now and into the future.
Future Plans:
As mentioned above this is only meant to be a small project/daily driver as such. My goal is to make a bit more fun to drive and look at. would love to get to 200hp at the wheels and have a nice exhaust note with a couple little additions to the body work
I've already started that down that route by purchasing the following items:
- Irmscher / Walkinshaw Front Lip
- Irmscher / Walkinshaw Side Skirts
- Irmscher / Walkinshaw Rear Hatch Spoiler
- Irmscher / Walkinshaw Lowered Springs (30 mm)
- Forge BOV (vent to atmosphere)
Next Mods:
- New wheels (OZ Racing seems to be the top of the list)
- P3 Boost Gauge (if i can custom fit it to the drivers side air vent, if not i'll look at other options)
- Alloy Intercooler (will source my own as the Airtec & Forge are stupidly expensive)
- Alloy Piping & Silicon joiners (Will have this custom made)
- Phase 2 Motortrend Clamps (Best clamps you can buy for intercooler piping)
- Cold Air intake (might make a custom airbox as well to sit at the front)
- Baffled Oil Catch can (looking like the small Mishimoto is the way to go)
- Decat down pipe with O2 sensor bypass mod
- Etuners Stage 1 tune
And time for some photos:
