Performance Meters- comments?

Heard from one of the threads, I think it was Mr Xquisid..was using a GTECH PRO meter. I heard they were not very accurate and cost around $390 (from the brisbane performance website)....

R they a good toy to have and how accurate r is it? High $300s sounds abit much, but I also saw a ESCORT GT2 meter from <a href="http://www.rexilla.com" target="_blank">www.rexilla.com</a> for $549!!! I've also seen a meter from BLITZ as well, but thats bound to cost big..... eek!

Check this out guyz, APEXI meter....cheapest I've seen so far..... worth getting maybe????? OR stcik with the GTECH?

I have an AC22 performance meter which cost ~$400 It is simple to use and I have tested a number of cars. The times recorded are close but not as quick as what Motor get. But I do them on public roads which don't have as much grip as a dragstrip etc.

I mainly test 0-60-80-100 times as these are easy to do on the road. But the meter will also do 1/4 mile times but in most cars you are travelling well over 100km/h at the end.

I've got an AC22 as well - nice piece of kit, but I don't use it much.

It's pretty handy for things like this though;

Where did you do 0-180-0 tests???
I do most of my tests on public roads. I've done 100-0 braking tests in a Porsche 911C4S on the freeway, it stopped in 36m, then I had to get out of the way.

0-100 you can do on just about any road since it's all over quickly. Here's some of the times I have acheived:
-911C2 (auto) 6.1
-'03 WRX (man) 6.55
-350Z (man) 6.97
-Integra Type-R 8.14
and down towards the bottom of the list, my 205GTi at 11.8 frown

I had to drive out to Wagga on a work trip, so there are quite a few roads out there to play on.

You can see I stuffed up the 4-5th change. The figures are OK considering I had standard unleaded in and 2 weeks worth of luggage and work stuff in the car.

Don't ask me what happened at the end of the braking test either.

The review seems to say its abit better than the GTECH Pro, esp with Features and accuracy. I'm thinking of getting one in the future. Lack of backlit LED is a bummer for night use though....

The back light is an issue but at least it doesn't drain the battery of the meter. You would be better off getting a map light that runs off the 12v socket for night use.

When doing 0-100 runs I don't even look at the meter, just take the car up to about 110km/h and then stop and read the meter.
