What do you expect to be driving?

We have/had footage of last year when my son competed and if all goes to plan will be doing again this year.
There were two BX16Vs last year, my son and Lance Collins car. I think Alan Moore may also have some info on it.
Are you a member of the Noosa Historic Car Club? If not, might pay to also get in contact with them as they organise the event and as you may be aware, it's a case of being invited as much as a willingness to compete as they try to keep it more of a classic/future classic event than an every day run of the mill type of cars competing and this may place restrictions on your ability to compete.
If you want to talk to my fellow, if you PM me I might be able to find a time when he's available to have a yarn or at worst point you to someone who would.

It a class Nc (?) (have to double check though) car, which i believe ranin targa tas once or twice, a few years back, I will say though its not French. Iam not a member of the noosa club, but the owner said it should be a ring in.....

Yeah will send you PM soon.

I was looking at joining the HRCC this year, as this car is now available for me to run, though it would have to be sprint and regularity as i only have a level 2S currently.

Is there much run off room, or is it mostly rock and armco on each side? I think i may have to go for a drive one sunday and have a look.

Cheers

I wasn't there, but I know last year a Jag managed to find its way down the hill upside down.
I think there's a bit of armco and I know my fella had problems getting a wheel or two in the air on a couple of tight bends.
In comparison to a few tracks I drove many years back it's not all that dangerous, but like any track, it has its spots where you need your wits about you.

The Noosa Club is not affiliated with CAMS, they just set the venue up and get a CAMS club to take out the permit and run the event.
No doubt it will be a multi club event so membership of any CAMS club will be OK.
This is a fantastic venue, we will be using it as part of the 50th Anniversary Ampol Trial Rerun in April next year.

We ran Noosa Hillclimb as part of Coastal Challenge a few years ago. There is lots to hit. Trees and concrete bollards mainly. Other than that, it's an awesome piece of road. Why don't you take a drive up there and drive it? It is just a public road through a national park. If someone is offering you there car and you are going to say no, tell them I'll drive it. :approve:

It has or is going to be closed to the public, better bring your bicycle.
This means in effect that the Noosa Classic Car Club will be OPENING the road for us rather than closing it!

I didn't know that. No more practice runs. :disappr:

I am not sure how the powers that be could close a road for the rest of the year when there are people living on it. The Noosa Tri also uses the road for their cycle leg.

Lots of concrete and cliffs to hit, the road is also a little rough in places, but there are guys in open wheelers running, so I would not think an NC car would be a worry. Just drive 9/10ths instead of 11. You DO NOT have to win your class. Some of the corners have had new bitumen applied, so as you turn in there is no grip, then plenty, then little again. Generally there are very few accidents. A quick car may see 100+kph briefly. It is more about execution, than outright speed.

Watch Jon Siddons in a 240Z, and follow his style, and you will do fine. I have driven the course many times, but not run at the event.

There's nobody living on the competition part of the road, this goes through the national park. I guess the upper section will remain open.

Well I think entries close the middle of next month. Iam sure the car will be fine, just thats its a different suspension set up to mine (same car, but very different suspension design), just got to drive carefully I suppose and take it easy. Will have to go for a drive up, as the car is not suited to super tight corners, as the power band is 6 to 9k, (with a 9.5k rev limit) so if its to tight it will be very annoying to drive. The owner is also wanting to run one of his other cars, as its the 25th birhtday of Audi Quattro.

Thanks Cal, thats what i was worried about, if there is not much run off room, i not a big fan, eg mt cotton hill climb track  . Are you organizing another day out at morgan park like you did this time last year? I might have a new toy to come and play with..........

I had been trying earlier in the year. I've given up on trying to do it with Sideline. There are too many people to organise ect. I want to book the full circuit for a private day later in the year. I have to call Bill to get a day. Only reservation I have is there would be no insurance. Doesn't bother me, but if I book it and some tool hurts themself and decides to sue, it could come down on me. The joys of the world we live it. I think I'll just print disclaimers like the BMW club and Westfield club do. Then I would only have people there I know and hope for the best. I'll get onto it. Brad has been hassling me about it too. :)

Cheers,

Cal.

BiX, have you run off at Mt Cotton? Southerners are often intimidated by it, but it is fairly difficult to stuff up, with only the finish line a bit tricky. I admit I have not run there for years, but the track is much better now, smoother with better bitumen and an easier finish. At least now you are not trying to brake on a pair of concrete car tracks.

A car with that sort of rev range will do fine at Noosa, be it a Mini or a BDA Escort.

We are using this in the Ampol Rerun as well, looks interesting to say the least!

Hi Allan, yeah a few years ago I had a spin just after the finish line and made the car about 1 foot shorter (back in the days with the 2 concrete strips) , and have been a little wary of running it ever since. I got back down there for the ICQ hillclimb round, and like the new track. Escort, MG who needs ones of those :D
