Didn't know whether to post this on the Humour forum or here, but this seemed the better option.
The story is apparently a seppo decided to give his V8 the big touch up; forged pistons etc, etc, etc and really had the innards "pumpin' harses booy" including turbo.
When givining it a bit of boost he found the weakest link in the chain...this is it...."hart diggity dawg booy; Huston...we gotta problem" wasn't innit. deal mallet dance head_ban roll_lau

I'll let the piccy speak for itself. BTW, it's a F**d whistle cry

Aaahh yes but I'm sure the replacement parts will be cheap and easy to get seeing as it's a patriot car roll_lau , just might need a few though. roll_lau

If he's still keen on force feeding after this little debacle, perhaps next time we could talk him into spending his dough on importing an R5 Maxi Turbo (350hp from 1.6 litre Reno pushrod evil ) instead. dance head_ban

That is some nasty stuff. Any idea exactly what F**d engine it is? Must have been running some serious ponies, because if its one of the later Ford 8s, I was under the impression that big HP was easy on the stock bottom end.

The other night at work:

There's a young Holden V8 fan, who ulimately wants to own a Monaro. I like to bait him up a bit with comments like "so when did you say you gonna get that Ford?".

Anyway, conversation and subsequent events went something like this:

Me: So whenneryer gunna get yer licence mate?

X: Dunno, me HZ V8's an auto but I want a manual license and driving instructors cost too much.

Me: So why don't yu just buy a cheap 4 cyl manual - yunno an old Ford Laser for 1500 bucks or something like that - just so you can get get some practice to do the test?

X: Can't. Still paying off the loan for the HZ.

Me: So what do you reckon I paid for mine eh? (pointing to the 76 504 in the carpark)

X: Whad is ert?

Me: Yu dunno what that is????? It's one of the all time classics of the motoring world!!! mutter rave mutter rave mutter.

X: Erhh? Four cylinder rubbish! Why don't you buy an Australian car?

Me: .... Ok, so what do you reckon my 27 year old bus could get up to, UP the hill from XXXX to XXXX, eh? (ABOUT 3 KM UP HILL SLOG, DUAL CARRAGEWAY, SOME CARS STRUGGLE UP THERE).

X: aaaahhh , bout a hundred.

Me: What, a hundred miles or kays?

X: Kays of course.

Me: H'mm, well I know it'll do a lot more than that..... eer I reckon the old girl should be able to get to 130 up there, not sure how much more though.

X: Nah. Bullshit.

Me: Wanna put money on it?

X: mutter mutter.

AN HOUR LATER:

X: Any chance of a lift home?

Me: Yeh no worries mate, but der yer wanna go via the hill to see who's right?

X: Yeeh, suppose.

10 MINUTES LATER, REACH BOTTOM OF HILL.

PLANT FOOT ON FEEDER ROAD. TRANNY KICKS BACK TO FIRST, SOON REDLINE, COLD NIGHT AIR WORKING A TREAT.

SOON AFTER WE ARE CREEPING TO TOWARDS THE REDLINE IN 2ND (THE LAST COUPLE OF HUNDRED RPM TAKE A WHILE)

Me: Ok that's 100 km/h

X: Sounds like she needs another gear mate (DIDN'T REALISE WE WERE STILL IN SECOND)

Me: Naaa, I'll just back off a tad so she drops into top.

INTO TOP, NOW CLIMBING SWEETLY.

Me: That's 120 kay ... 125, .... 130, yep, 135.. Damm! (TWO CARS SIDE BY SIDE, BLOCKING OVERTAKING LANE) Bugger, we'll have to back off and hit the brakes.

APPLY BRAKES. BACK TO 100 NOW, WAIT FOR THE OVERTAKING LANE TO BECOME BE CLEARED OF RIGHT LANE HOGG. BUT NEARING TOP OF HILL NOW.

TWO THIRDS OF THE WAY UP THE HILL WE REACHED 135, STILL CLIMING WELL, 145 SHOULD HAVE BEEN POSSIBLE WITHOUT THE TRAFFIC.

Me: And she's stock standard mate.

X: silent.

TWENTY SEVEN YEAR OLD STOCK STANDARD XN1 WITH WORN VALVE GUIDES AND TIMING CHAIN, HOOKED UP TO 3 SPEED SLUSH BOX, GOING UP HILL WITH DUNNY DOOR AERODYNAMICS.

FOOTNOTE:

Tyres are excellent, near new, not retreads, worn suspension bushes replaced recently, steering rack rebushed to. Good original Peugeot shocks. New braked pads all 'round: brakes fantastic. Great headlights. In other words, IMHO a very roadworthy and safe car in which to be doing these speeds on a smoothly surfaced, allmost straight dual carrageway.

Hi Guys,

there's a guenuine Machonics stage 3 CX2500 GTi Turbo II for sale on the CX lists at the moment. Apparantly it's dyno'd at 280hp ... and something others can't seem to acheive ... reliability

The guys says it a very smooth engine from idle to 2000rpm, from 2000rpm to the redline it's downright terifying eek! eek!

It's gotta be quite reliable/drivable still as he uses it as his daily car in summer (after the salts off the road in the UK).

seeya,
Shane L.
