All,

It is with regret that I’ve decided, due to a change in personal circumstances, that it’s time to let go of the 205 Si that I acquired 2.5 years ago. This is no ordinary Si, having had all systems (steering, suspension, brakes, drivetrain) upgraded to GTI or better parts over the years.

Specs and a list of work performed during my ownership are below. This car drives brilliantly, is very reliable (hasn’t needed anything other than basic maintenance and a new battery for the past 18 months) and exceptionally well sorted mechanically. I’ve spent over $8k in modifications and maintenance in the past 2.5 years, with nearly all the work being undertaken by renowned French car specialist Paul Vasallo at AP Automotive in Carlton, Sydney, to Paul’s typically thorough (some would say pedantic!) standards.

Prior to my ownership the car was used as a track car and as such has the requisite preparations such as tow stickers, battery marking and 1kg fire extinguisher. The car does not have working heating (control flaps frozen) or Air Conditioning or radio (removed to save weight), and with the various modifications it is NOT suitable as a daily driver except for the most hard-core of enthusiasts. As an occasional or weekend car however it is brilliant – even popping to the shops feels like you’re going on a rally stage!

Due to the solid engine and suspension mounts, the steering provides great feedback, the brake pedal feel and travel is fantastic and perfect for heel-toe, and the gearshift is exceptional for a 205. The shortened diff ratio gives the car significantly more get up and go than a regular Si. All elements come together harmoniously to make the car a joy to drive. The perfect car for anyone who's fed up with the proliferation of driver aids in modern vehicles.

Price: $3,500.

The car will be sold with two brand new Direzza Z1 star Spec tyres as spares, new spark plug wires, a new door seal, steering wheel lock, 2011 Sydney street directory, as well as the original HVAC control dials should the new owner wish to re-install these. Workshop manuals (Porters, Haynes) and other 205 books are available at an additional cost for new 205 owners – some of the books are out of print and not easily found nowadays.

Registration expires 26th June 2013.

Please contact me by PM if you are interested or would like further information. Car is located in Sydney's lower north shore.

I am a rather tall person at 6’4”, so the car has been modified with a lower driver’s seat and smaller / closer steering wheel. If you’re of similar size, this car will be much more comfortable than an unmodified 205.

I have receipts for work dating back over 10 years - including many, many pages of hand-written notes from Paul V - and will include these with the sale of the car.

The good
• No major rust, including in critical areas such as the base of the B-pillar. Some very minor rust spots (surface corrosion only) are visible in non-structure areas such as the front guard where paint has been chipped away
• Passenger seat, rear seats and door cards are in great condition
• Gearbox is fantastic, with smooth, positive changes
• Mechanically the car is in great condition due to the attention to detail from Paul V during my ownership
• Electrical system (lights, wipers, washer pumps, power windows) works perfectly

The bad
• Cosmetically, this car is not in great condition and is not worth restoring unless you can undertake paintwork yourself. This is a car for someone who cares about performance, not aesthetics. The clear coat has peeled off the paint and it has the usual problems with the dash plastics and torn fabric in the driver's seat

I've just returned from 2 weeks away from the car and it's a revelation to drive again. Absolutely NOTHING else on the market short of a motorbike will give you as much driving pleasure for the price. Don't miss an absolute bargain.

Very pleased to say a deposit has been taken; she's going to a good home with an existing 205 owner.
